Thanking all for their input on the posts I created What Are Expats Looking For In A Used Car

& Great News! Coming To Pattaya...

I have now taken heed to some of the advice given, including removing the [iMO] comical 'Pocket-Rocket'

stickers (took about 30mins to carefully remove and clean surfaces) and reducing the price.

* Please also note (as the ad says) that sensible offers will be considered.

Have been experiencing a few problems today with uploading edits to the classified page,
so please be patient as there may be [temp] issues with TV's site at the moment.

Reduced! High-spec Mazda 2-AUTO. Farang owned.

555, exactly my point IMHO. All the fuss over stickers!"£$%^&* Either it's the type of car one is after, or not...I don't ever remember the UK used-car market being so fickle. You see ad, are interested, make contact, ask specific questions, enquire as to how flexible the price is, go and see, make up your mind, and BAM! Job done!...or not.

Well, right here, most of the posters on TV are convinced of the virtues of buying new vs used. So, I guess you would need really to offer something like a huge discount (80 %?) giggle.gif for anybody to want to buy an ordinary second-hand car like a Mazda 2.

Might just be the wrong place. Maybe try getting it on the thai market, you will certainly have more takers (or not!). Would have been easier if it was a Toyota or Honda. smile.png

...errr...ummm...so reading between the lines, does that mean you are not interested? What if I were to gift-wrap it, could I change your mind?

Maybe, if you gave it for free, I could see whether I could place it somewhere at my condo, and use it to go to big c. cheesy.gif

I would take very good care of it, I promise! laugh.png I would go and say "good night" to it, every evening, baby it with good quality synthetic oil, take her to have her regular maintenance, and tell her sweet words as you do each time I would ride her. I would maybe even place my own ugly stickers if she felt it made her look beautiful.giggle.gif

More seriously: No, I have already a car and do not need another one, like most of the other motorists here.

I love to meet/hear people with a quality character (no sarcasm intended) and regularly encourage others to speak out. However, I always suggest they polish-up their language skills before being too vocal. Forgive me if there are any typos, btw.

Apologies my friend, I am currently just enjoying myself. Does it really hurt to have something a little different in the mix? Besides, the two common denominators [to this forum] are 'car' & 'Thailand'.

I surely have too much time on my hands at the moment.

It's not your fault the major manufacturers can't make a small car look really cool. But they all seem to be good at making them look frumpy!

IMO, it's still too expensive.

Removing some stickers, dropping it from 450 000 Baht

to 440 000 and saying sensible offers to be considered

isn't much of an incentive. As IMHO asked previously, have

you taken it to a tent for a price?

The longer it sit's unsold, the more people will think something

is wrong with it.

I think you should've just bitten the bullet and dropped it to 415 000.

Will

OP, you previously didn't own a Thai Cruze by any chance whistling.gif

I'm afraid not buddy. Nor did I have a Proton Gen 2, though was pretty close to getting one. Phew!!!

Why don't you just stay in LOS, then you don't have to go though all this hassle and you can keep your mighty Mazda 2wink.png

555, I like that.

Mate, after 13 yrs, I just kinda feel I've done my stretch. Still have many fond memories of LOS, but the balance of good vs bad (IMO) has slipped to the unfavourable and I'd hate to be sitting here getting grumpy and complaining all of the time; rather I should keep positive and head-off.

Otherwise, very sound advice!

Had to chuckle, short, swift, humorous. Thanks.

Really though, you think the M2 looks "frumpy"? Of most small/city cars, I thought it was a quite a snazzy little number...perhaps those rose-tinted glasses...or the beer goggles, not sure.

Hey Will, your input is valid, as was/is IMHO.

Reason for not going to a tent is mainly, no matter how much I tell myself it's only a piece of metal, I would still prefer it not to go to a Thai. No offence intended, just virtually all Thai drivers I know really disregard their cars after the first mark/dent/scratch, and as most of us know that's usually within the first few days/weeks. I do need to address this [mindset], as time is getting on.

I would like the opportunity to 'negotiate' with potential buyer/viewer regarding price, stamp-duty, its current full-year ins/tax, and anything else that comes to mind, but need them to drop-by in the first place. FYI: having asked the forum for opinions, and the mass interest in viewing online compared to sparse actual viewings (interestingly, I've only had two viewers come to see: one came up from Patts, loved it, agreed on its value, but was built like an oak tree and just couldn't foresee being comfortable in the cock-pit...we laughed and went our separate ways. The other...hmmm...agreed on a price, shook hands, had me taxi him around the country for days, then reneged on the deal minutes before out DLT appointment), I am left thinking that the price is the REAL spanner in the works here; something I WILL address.

Also, your note about the longer it runs etc... this is a concern and thanks for highlighting it.

Thanks a bunch for your words.

Priceless!!!

Not only would I struggle to part with it, the premium would be so high, I'd hate to think of the feedback.

I think he meant: go to a few tents to get a better idea of selling prices.

Soz, I didn't think of it quite that way, good input.

However, I, and the GF, have trawled all/many of the top Thai sites (mostly full of tent ads) and, if those are to be the benchmark, my [suggested] price is about right; shy of their purchase prices (for similar spec). Another strange thing is that the models/specs vary considerably in the Thai ads (as do the prices; kinda gets a little mind-numbing looking for the reasons behind the disparity in prices), whereas the Farang ads/market only seems to have pretty much the top or bottom end models/specs...odd!"£$%^&?

I am a teetotaller and I have never had rose tinted glasses. I guess I am not a small car person.....except...I kind of like the Suzuki Swift models of the last few years, but I certainly won't be buying one.

555. Never ceases to amaze me just how 'vocal' some people are, yet do
no homework in order to be understood. Reading it [very] laterally, perhaps I get it (though would perhaps prefer not to), but who could be sure!"£$%^&*???

Not intended to sound pompous.

To all you non-native English speakers out there please don't take
offence to that. My 2nd/3rd/etc language skills are sketchy, at best, so I would not
criticize others for being better linguists than I. Moreover, some people love/need
to be heard...problem is, they need to be understood if people are to listen.
