Are You A Digital Nomad?......

Last year in a rather idyllic island hideaway there were 2 girls on a table near me that spent the whole evening Face booking and regaling each other with the gossip from back home and totally oblivious to what was going on around them. A couple of days later they were on the boat heading back to the mainland, a really beautiful trip, if they had looked up from their screens that is.The irony of it was that they were traveling around the region for the first time and seeing none of it.

I've seen exactly the same thing on many occasions. We have a saying in Canada that is appropriate... "They can't see the forest for all the trees in the way"

Few people on this thread not really understanding the 'digital nomad' thing. It doesn't just mean someone who travels with a laptop or has internet access it's someone who has no fixed home and makes money online and can do it from anywhere in the world where they have internet access.

After 7 years working in an office I tried the digital nomad life 5 years ago. Stayed a few months in Thailand, Australia, a few other countries then thailand again... I was hooked. Life was so depressing back home, with the only glitters of hope being the days when I was planning my next holidays. Now money is not flowing as regularly and the future is quite uncertain, but I feel like I'm in a constant holiday and generally much happier.

I met my gf 3 years ago and now we have some furniture for our rented house, pets, vehicles... Not nomad at all anymore. Just for the visas restrictions for Thai nationals, moving to another country is now out of question. But we are getting sick of phuket, and we could move anywhere in Thailand in a month. Many great choices, chumphon, prachuab, kanchanaburi, Chiangmai, rayong, petchabun... Or the gf's village in the middle of nowhere. Hope it will not be the last one :D

Yup, still running two successful companies Jake.

I'm a dinosaur compared to this new generation, they're floating around the world making serious money while enjoying life to the full.

Excellent.

What's the sit-up count up to as of today?

Wow...so they let a divorced, obese, reformed alcoholic amend their business plan...

Why?

oooh boy. Someone made a whoopsie. thumbsup.gif

I'd never realised that being divorced rendered one ineligible for management consultancy. Nor had I realised that management consultants should maintain their alcohol abuse. Nor had I realised that my weight had a bearing on my competence.

One learns so much on this forum.

Mostly, about the foolishness of one's fellows, and their delight in abusing one another.

I have been clearing about 200,000 baht monthly ($6-7000).

All via Adsense and blogging content across 7 websites... Takes about 2-3 hours a day smile.png

Tis the life.

Good man Jigger, and well done, Those figures don't surprise me, I've seen similar recently. There's a massive pot of gold out there. wai.gif

Wow, really? When I started looking for alternative source of revenue a year or two ago, I came to the conclusion that Adsense bases sites were on the decline and that just blogging was not going to do it...

Really, but you have to be consistent and on top of your game re the adsense rules.

I wouldn't recommend having all your income coming from adsense. Google can and do ban at will with no explanation, rhyme or reasons and they do so frequently. Many people have lost all their earnings over night when relying on adsense.

I'd look into monetizing via other methods if not already like promoting affiliate offers or creating your own products to sell.
