I'll post the flyer here when I get it. The Duke's and The River Market Restaurant will be having a 4th of July celebration this year. Ticket prices are 1000 baht for adults and 600 Baht for children. The activities start at 3 and we will have a all you can eat American buffet, music by "The Tomato Patch Boys," dancing, games and the price includes 4 domestic beers and/or soft drinks or 2 craft beers from the US.

We will have Rouge beers and Anderson Valley beers available and Budweiser! We will also have Arizona Teas and maybe Snapple and American sodas.

There will be limited ticket sales and we will lock down the venue. Want to watch the fireworks w/o paying? Eat at The Duke's and come stand on the bridge at 8. We will have some games, water balloon toss and a few others with prizes.

Sponsors are welcome and we have packages available for groups. Anyone want to promote their business at the event? You can do it. Talk to us.

This year will be a quality event. Not in that league? Don't come and don't complain. I am expecting that the mods will keep this thread clean. Tickets are available at The Duke's and The Duke's Night Bazaar and The River Market Restaurant.

Did I mention the fireworks?

The Duke's will have burgers, sausages, hot dogs, salads, pizza and a lot of food. We'll have ice cream buffet and cakes and lots of desserts.

This year I want to do cold cut platters with breads to make your own sandwiches, quesadillas and street tacos and guacamole and a nacho bar.

No one will go home hungry and because we are limiting ticket sales, no jerks and no complainers. Cuts out a lot of people but... Can you ask for anything else?

Here's the flyer. There will be lots of fun this year and we will have some late afternoon games. Tickets are available from The Duke's or The River Market.

David this looks like a great time. We've already bought our tickets. The whiners can go buy a hot dog at the 7-11, stand on the bridge and watch your fireworks for free!

I've had a few questions asked about the event that I can help to explain. By "lock down" the event what I meant was that it will be closed to all but ticket holding patrons. In the past and at previous events the doors and walk ways into The River Market have been left open and we've had hundreds of people walking through, some even helping themselves to the Loi Krathong Buffet. The side gates will be closed and in order to enter the venue a ticket will be required. There probably will be tickets available on the day of the event but you should get your tickets early and don't assume that because you are a regular at The Duke's or The River Market that there will be overflow space. Once the tickets are gone, they are gone. We are not having a rush selling them right now but the same thing always happens at Thanksgiving and then we have 400-500 people at the end of it all. Get your tickets before July 4.

The grassy area and the restaurant will be open and available for those inside the event to enjoy themselves. There will be some seating on the grass. The buffet is free and some of the beers and drinks come with the ticket purchase. So not a lot of money handling or order taking by the staff.

Security in the past has been what you would expect. This year will probably no different but we are taking the problems of the past into consideration and hopefully learning from them. We will have 3 or 4 Thai police available that will do what they do best. Nothing! Our security company will help with the parking and to keep the gates closed. We are expecting a much smaller and more manageable crowd this year. We've printed 350 tickets and 50 children's tickets and that is all we are going to accommodate. The bougainvillaea has grown up around the bridge and the river will be fenced off. There will be a security supervisor on hand to handle any problems and to coordinate the security staff.

The fireworks will be let off near the river at the same location as last year.

This event is open to all nationalities and is a non political celebration. There will be no flag waving, rousing speeches or posturing. Just good food, beverage, music, dancing, games and a fun afternoon. The River Market Restaurant is handicap accessible as are the bathrooms. And we have plenty of clean bathrooms.

Wish I could be there but I have to leave for work today until August. We strolled through the River Market just to check it out and peruse the menu recently. (Unfortunately we had just had Vietnamese across the River). It is a beautiful venue and we are looking forward to eating there.

Well the 4th of July is rapidly approaching us three more days.

I know the food will be good as it always is.
