Places that might be good options to BPH in general and places that would be options for cancer chemotherapy are 2 very different matters.

As one poster correctly said, the choice of oncologist is all important and you should carefully research the doctor's qualifications. It may be worth going up to Bkk in which case the Bangkok Hospital Cancer Hospital would be a good choice as you could almost certainly get under the care of an oncologist there and get the actual chemo and labs done at BPH and results forwarded to him/her.

With what is at stake in your personal situation I would not let anything other than the oncologists's expertise be a deciding factor. For meds other than chemo (for example, nausea meds) buy at Fascino's rather than at the hospital pharmacy.

For those who cannot afford private hospital rates and require cancer treatment, options would be: Queen Sirikit Naval Hosp, the Chonburi Cancer Center (affiliated with the provincial hospital, but regional level facility) , and the Red Cross Hospital (Queen Savang Vadhana Memorial Hosp) in Sri Racha. These will all be much less expensive than private but at the cost of considerable waits, red tape, language barriers (with admin and nursing staff) and not being able to choose your doctor.

I find its all hit and miss regards medical care in Thailand with the potential for outrageous billing awaiting,it depends which way the wind is blowing I guess on a particular day.

Plane ride to India ,3 hours away, utterly superb medical car,at a fraction of Thailand's and a recent return fare of £60 return into Calcutta. The list of first class hospitals was sooo impressive. I go there for whatever medical problems I encounter

Interesting. So the quality is good you say. How much cheaper than a good private hospital in Thailand? Is there double pricing?

The difference is like night and day. I put a piece up in the Health section a couple of months ago "options to Thailand medical care" Look it up,I do not want to go into great detail here,but well worthwhile taking a trip out there,it was amazing. No double pricing.

I had a Thai friend who was admitted to Queen Sawang Red Cross Hospital in Sriracha and he was referred to Samitivej for an MRI, all free on the government's dime, I don't think they would charge the Government that much, maybe the price was depending on your ability to pay

I feel uncomfortable with commercial medical care here in Thailand, doctor/sales man all too easy forget their primary function and certainly at BHP they prices and sales techniques are through the roof! I had a quote for a minor (hernia) surgery there that was more expensive than a private clinic in the UK including non-stop tickets!

If I need major treatment I would consider a hospital like Sirikit in Sattahip, not as comfortable and you have to wait, but the doctor doesn't have the wallet in his mind all the time.

Just make sure you have good Thai language skills or a good translator if you want to make use Sikirit in Sattahip

I have been to PIH on several occasions and found the services to be very good and the fees a lot cheaper than PBH.

On an aside I recently had to have a cystoscopy for insurance purposes and went to PBH for a quote and was given 25,000 bht as the cost. Having been to Samitivej Sri Richa before thought I would try them , found a good specialist who said price would not exceed 18,000 bht including lab tests if required. BUT on making the appointment a rather chubby attendant arrived and quoted 30,000 bht which shook me. I referrred her to the doctor and his quote of 18,000 bht. The quote was changed to 21,000 bht so I agreed and just wanted out.

In the event it all went well and the final bill ( created by the doctor ) was 14,000 plus. I wonder if they are starting 2 prices on seeing a farang which will bear watching. Not that many farangs go there.
