Hi mums,

Has anybody living here got experience with breastfeeding their babies. is anyone aware how it is seen amongst Thai culture?

I was hoping to breastfeed for at least 9 months as it is easy and cheap and comes recommended by my doctor, just wondering how everyone goes about breastfeeding in public?

At home women are discreet using shawls and wraps to cover the act and was wondering if this is ok to do in public places?

Thanks so much for any feedback

you will be fine to breastfeed anywhere. Thai people generally do not have this prevalent attitude in some countries of the west that feeding babies in public is wrong.

Just use a muslin cloth or light weight shawl to shade baby & your breast from intrusive prying eyes.

We have an 8 month old boy and my wife breastfeed him everywhere in Thailand. She has a small towel to cover he breast. She never had a problem and many Thai's do it. Thai's sometime want to switch quickly to a bottle and stop the breastfeeding but I told her to continue as even her doctor told her it's good for the baby,
