oldsailor35
Sure he is only 44? look a lot older more like 64. If he entered the country illegally I guess he has upset a rival who has alerted the immigration authorities, He may have been better off setting up his business elsewhere in the country where it is not so cut throat. Why are the other 3 guys standing behind him if he is merely talking to one guy? oh photo op sorry. Thai Real Estate can really age you ... . Especially with all the lies and bullshit you have to hand out .
brewsterbudgen
I think people should respect the laws of Thailand and have their visa and workpermit in order. Just like the thousands of cambodian/laos/burmese construction workers here in Pattaya - I am sure they all have their visa/workpermit papers in order - right? Or all the Russian/Ukranie/Mauritius/Uzbekistani dancers and sex workers in Pattaya/Bkk - They probably also have all papers in order as well. Its good that the Thai immigration police controls and treats illegal European immigrants the same way they treat all other illegal immigrants!! There are frequent raids on sites using illegal Cambodian/Laos/Burmese labour. It's not difficult for them to work legally but it does require documentation, such as a passport, which many don't have, or can't afford. There are a number of work permits issued to Russian and presumably other Eastern Europeans "actresses"! marell
The Irish pubs are full of these sleazeballs. That's why I don't do Irish Pubs. That's funny. If someone doesn't do Irish Pubs then how would they know what they're full of? Good one.

catweazle
Another one bites the dust... I don't understand where the problem is for foreigners who want to live and work in Thailand to make it legal by obtaining proper licenes, visas and work permits. Thousands of expats here do it and pay dearly for it every year for accounting, auditing, fees, taxes, insurance, salaries, etc. - this said, from me a big THANK YOU to the arresting officers for sending another freeloader home. starkey_rich
I'm afraid some of my compatriots may lack good grammar, but generally make up for it with good intentions. Any farang exploiting Thai people should be deported. We are guests here in this country. And any Thai exploiting, scamming and robbing farangs should be locked up but that will never happen. Yes we maybe guest's here but unwelcome guest's and that's how we will always be treated.

Arkady
The job of realtor is not specifically in the list of restricted professions but "brokerage or agency" is (except in international business), although it is easy enough to get around this by not putting those words in the WP application. Many brokers and agents in various businesses have WPs in Thailand. However, they are usually in senior positions where they can be described as managers, analysts etc. People working on the actually ground broking real estate to expats are in a grey area and would probably not obtain WPs, if they provided an honest job description. Of course this guy's problem was not really the list of restricted occupations but that he was working without papers as an illegal immigrant.

I accept what you say, but, if I "own" a condo/apartment/house and offer it for sale, or for rent, and I market it, advertise it, show people through for inspections, and if rented, manage the property, am I not acting in the capacity of a real estate agent, thus, breaching Thai labour laws? Postmaster
What about his business/premises/any real estate of his own ? Maybe some Thai Lady will be much better off when he's escorted away from Thailand. There was a Russian man and wife selling Real Estate and Sailing Trips at the end of Bang Tao Pier on Koh Chang Island. They better keep their heads down now after this. lubbkis
This story is obviously a complete fabrication. In England they have Estate Agents. In Scotland they work through Solicitors. There is no such thing as a British Realator, so if someone tells you he is such a thing, tell him he is an oxymoron.
norrona
The distinction that someone posted above defining the difference between a Realtor and a real estate agent, at least in the U.S., is correct. Realtors are licensed and have to pass exams and certification, etc... In the U.S. as I recall, to have a realty firm, there has to be at least one Realtor with a license, and then the non licensed agents can work under the Realtor. But in Thailand, I've never heard or seen of anything about licensing of real estate people, realtors or otherwise. AFAIK, a monkey could be a real estate agent in Thailand, as long as he/she is a Thai citizen. Very fitting summary

Popular Post GentlemanJim
Why should I get a visa to enter Thailand, I can enter illegally and stay as long as I wish and if I am caught, I just get deported. No overstay penalty! Raybo Wrong! The guy will have to pay a 20 000 baht fine, AND pay for his own ticket home. He will stay in the immigration detention center (worse than any prison) for 100 days if he cannot pay the fine and will carry on staying there until a relative or friend buys him his ticket home. Some people have been in there two years, eventually they may helped out by a charity that the visiting Padre is involved with and their ticket will be bought for them. They just don't deport you here, you have to pay, in cash or time! Try reading the text properly, do you know what comma's are for? "as a realtor, a profession reserved for Thais, since 2011." I'm afraid some of my compatriots may lack good grammar, but generally make up for it with good intentions. Any farang exploiting Thai people should be deported. We are guests here in this country. This statement is the most tired crap statement being used by some expats in Thailand. Do you think for one nano second the Chinese, Africans, Thais, Russians and Romanians who are scamming everyone possible in London think "oh we should not do this, we are guests in their country". It is a laughable rubbish statement. I am NOT a guest here, I have paid my way and put millions into the Thai economy. Providing I comply with the law and regulations which I accepted when I chose to come here then I am fine and I am no guest. I legally live here and am bedded in for the long term, something a 'guest' could not contemplate doing.
