ray23 Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 I purchased a cheap digital camera just to see if I would enjoy it, I did Now I would like to step up to a better camera, I'm not a professional and have desire to be one, just real good photos in different light conditions. Where would I best spend my money, for the best resluts. I also want to start printing photos, any advice as to equipment and perserving the photos would be greatefully appreciated. I'm not overloaded wiht money but don't have to do everything at once either.

astral Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 Kan Win has given you some good pointers for reading. Once you have have narrowed it down we can give you some more detailed advice. Some idea of what sort of subjects you like to photograph will be useful. Portraits/landscape/sport/indoor/outdoor etc Plus a ballpark budget will also help us to guide you. Picasa, dowloadable off the web is a good start for cataloging and viewing your photos. Photoshop is a good comprehensive programme for tweaking photos. I always keep the originals as I may want to scrap my tweaking and start again. This can mean a heavy load on disk space, after a while! A regular back up to CD or DVD is advisable
ray23 Posted April 6, 2006 Author Posted April 6, 2006 Thanks guys I will review the information and maybe I can get up to speed enough to ak the right questions. I gues the way to describe what I want to do is general photography. Not versed enough to get past the standard family album photo's. Just enjoy sharing my expeince and waht i see here with my friends in the states. The biggest problem with the cheapy camera if the lighting isn't perfect, the photos are terrible
