which features a standing Buddha image grown inside a Bodhi tree.

Anyone has a link to a picture of this ?

Me too ---- it makes no sense. Bodhi trees are considered sacred, and anybody who interferes with them would be a pariah. Bodhi tress are called Pho trees in Thailand.

Don't be so negative about the PM!, She's doing a good job and the people love her.

Maybe some enterprising individual should mass produce red plastic bracelets with "I love the PM" engraved.

Now that would be a money earner!

Doing a good job? Pray enlighten us to how you define and measure "doing a good job" and reach this conclusion.

Well, with the current constitution we would be talking about 8 + 'gap' + 8 more years to make a total of 16.

Constitution 2007

Section 171. The King appoints the Prime Minister and not more than thirty-five other Ministers to constitute the Council of Ministers having the duty to carry out the administration of State affairs with collective accountability.

The Prime Minister must be a member of the House of Representatives appointed under section 172.

The President of the House of Representatives shall countersign the Royal Command appointing the Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister shall not hold office for more than eight consecutive years.

They've probably got the last point on the radar for change.

Isn't the present government's stance one of changing laws so they can never be in breach of them?

Probably just needs an addition to every law of "unless it has a negative impact on the desires of the Shinawatra empire".

Typical Nation sensationalize of the head lines.

Typical Thai Visa responses. Don't read the article just reply to the headline.

The article really said.

"He also wished that she remained the prime minister for as long as 16 years"

That's actually the most ironic part about it. What's an abbot doing 'wishing'--i.e. desiring--for anything for anyone? If she goes anywhere near two full terms even, expect Singapore prices minus all the glitz and efficiency of a real, working country. whistling.gif Way to go, bud.

Religious people ( monks ) should not in any way be involved in politics and should be completely bipartisan in performing their duties. That guy should be punished for running off his mouth and expressing an opinion he should keep to himself. I hope the Thas people have developed enough brain cells by now to realize how crap this administration is and vote them out at the earliest opportunity...

Unfortunately, the Pheu Thai has already put under the table money into brown envelop to pay the same voters again, because the natural instincts of those propaganda washed people is money, without regards to Human life... giggle.gifgiggle.gifgiggle.gif

If by banter he means bargain I guess I could Bargain on the price of the Bridge.

You could put it up for auction in the classifieds section, i'm sure they'll be a lot of interest on here.

Don't expect much for it though, You know how members like a bargain.

That would be 16 years of graft and ineptitude..thankfully she won't be in office this long.

There ain't enough money in the country to support another 2 years of this crowd let alone 16 more.

I read a lot about her meeting heads of state but how has that translated to

any benefits for the Thai people? Just askin.

About the same as any politician worldwide.

At least her brother left a legacy of a social welfare state by giving pensioners 500bht a month.

500bt? Sounds like an election's in the offing.

I seem to recall investment in free education by the Democrats. (Hushed tones of mentioning the name of the enemy). This is as opposed to ripping the country off and leaving pay-offs for KT's supporters.

I think you're being naive to confuse bribes with a desire to lay a foundation for a 'social welfare state'. I can't honestly believe that KT was being so un-Thai as to be looking for a future for Thailand.

Mind you, he probably feels that anything which benefits him personally, must also have a beneficial effect on Thailand.

Hence the need to borrow 2,2 Trillion more, immediately & with repayment in the distant future, wouldn't want GDP-growth to fall even faster than it already is, or turn negative ! wink.png

It happened while he was in charge!

So i assume the ousted PM gave his approval and green light for the scheme.

Note: Looking after the old and poor is something the other goverments and you know who have done little about in the past.

Why do you think he is so popular with the ordinary working class voter?

And finally why do most farangs on here support the opposition?!?!( It beggars belief! That a farang should oppose a goverment that has the support of it's people)

It seems that it didn't happen while "he" was in charge. It happened while Abhisit was in charge.

"He" is popular with the "ordinary working class voter" because they believe the crap that is fed to them.

Maybe most farangs on here support the opposition (or more correctly, are anti-government) because they don't believe that crap that is fed to them.

Should we all support the Mugabe government. After all he has "the support of the people".
