BANGKOK, July 22 – The Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO) has seized 59 listed assets of fugitive defrocked monk Wirapol Sukphon and plans to confiscate 10 plots of land and 23 cars also listed in his name next week.

Thirapong Dulyavicharn, chief of AMLO’s asset seizure unit, said Mr Wirapol’s parents will be instructed to verify their possession of 10 plots of land in their home province of Ubon Ratchathani and 23 cars.

Several houses where Mr Wirapol’s parents and siblings live, the office of the temple’s foundation and warehouses where the cars are kept are located on the land in question, he said.

Mr Wirapol, widely known for his religious name, Luang Pu Nen Kham, was defrocked from the monkhood while on the run abroad.

The former monk himself, or his parents were given 30 days to verify the assets in question, Pol Lt Col Thirapong said, adding that AMLO has requested financial institutions to check Mr Wirapol’s financial status during the past several years.

AMLO’s next move is to submit the case to the Attorney General to file a lawsuit in the Civil Court, seeking to confiscate Wirapol’s assets, he said. (MCOT online news)

We will give you 30 days to explain, another 30 to explain what you have just explained, another 30 to explain the explaination and ... !

Throw in a conference and a seminar.

He withdrew 300 million Baht from his accounts. I seriously doubt he cares about the seized cars and plots of land. He'll never have to work another day in his life!

Unless he returns that to those it belonged to his life will not be long. Especially as he is now no longer a monk.

23 cars for what use ?? He really thinks big, probably inspired by Thaksin the Fugitive. Hopefully he will be kicked into a American jailhouse for a while first.

Uncomfortable Twin Room Available. Includes th following luxuries: no flatscreen HD TV, no refrigirator, no kitchenette, no airconditioning.

With all that money, I am sure he is enjoying it OS, with great shopping, fair prices, regardless of where you are from.. clean streets, proper sewerage, fast Internet etc....

Hmm... I am sure the "home country" will tug at him.... but it doesnt take long to appreciate 1st world pleasures with that amount of cash in your pockets :)

With all these warnings and time wasted by the police...he is already in Brazil getting married with a Brazilian girl to never be extradited to any country...and please...Give her another 9 months in warnings for him to have a baby and feel even safer in Copacabana Beach.

Let's face it. Its a great country to meet a girl. Or a boy. Retire from the rat race. Live peacefully out in the country somewhere.

Start a business or . . . a charity . . . or . .

commit a crime

lots of latitude here. . .

Why the hell do they keep giving these criminals advance warning of what they are going to do???

Obviously because their are other people higher up the food chain that are involved and don't want to lose their money.

My guess is he's been covered for quite awhile going by the statement below wink.png

Pol Lt Col Thirapong said, adding that AMLO has requested financial institutions to check Mr Wirapol’s financial status during the past several years.

USA - Land of opportunity. Build and temple and watch the bank accounts grow - legally. Throw in a persecution schtick and quadruple your Southern base donations overnight. Dye the robes white and convert to Christ and your money knows no limits. Why don't they teach us these parables in school?

Wether or not he is guilty or innocent to things he has NOT BEEN CHARGED with, is immaterial. We are going to grab as much as we can, and he will not get it back no matter if found innocent.

Doubtful that he is innocent with this scale of material property and all that cash. But correct. It is a good old Thai money grab.

There are more monks out there operating this way, running rackets for high level Thais & police generals.

It's common knowledge where they are and what they are up to.

Wonder why they are not being looked at?

Is he a monk? -- NO

He is a sensualist.

Get him behind the bars and save the dignity of monkhood. Save religion, save religious belief.

Give us a break!

This guys only crime was to get caught, exposing (any) religion for what it really is ! sad.png

People who pay to the earthly ambassadors of supernatural beings to recieve forgiveness, absolution, a promise of paradise or make merit, they deserve to be defrauded ! whistling.gif

And funnily enough those people think, they are morally better, than those of us who have the brains to not fall for the scam.

This post is going to send me straight to hell!!w00t.gif

See you there. Edited by louse1953
