Hello versus Goodby

Featured Replies

Usually, if a Farang arrives in Thailand with the intention of "staying here forever" makes this clear to everyone living within a radius of 2 km's of his domicile. He may even share this event with avid readers of an internet forum. His rose-colored glasses are firmly lodged on his nose. This is the Hello-Factor" and is usually a reason for a lot of noise and big thunder.

The "Goodby" is usually less thunderous: No more e-mails, telephone-connection death. Traveling halfway across the country to find out about the friend that had the intention of "staying here forever", comments from neighbors reveal secrets like "him angry- go home". The question: "Angry of what?" can produce a reply like "Angry Thailand everything and Mia.!"

Another quiet exit of an other Farang took place. No fanfares, no big thunder. The rose colored glasses have come off.

I know, this Thread is in stark contrast to the prevailing opinion of posters here and is therefore "politically not correct".

Some succeed in Thailand, others not. Those that don't succeed here are like old soldiers: They don't die, they just fade away.

Cheers.

It's called flouncing.

Thousands of people flounce on hundreds of forums every day.

It's not unique to this particular flouncers paradise at all.

Try it some time.

It can be quite inspirational for the flouncer... but boring and usually cringe worthy as all buggery for those compelled to watch the flounce.

Need education: What is a "Flouncer"? Rumor has it, that Martians land in Papua-New-Guinea to mix their extra-terrestrial language with twitter-users in order to create a new language?

Is this the case? Reply expected.

Cheers.

I can't see myself settling I Thailand, but it certainly makes a lovely temporary residence. If you are somewhat financially independent then life can be very enjoyable.

Yes. Why is someone who has a change of mind a failure? I danged near moved to Thailand this year and changed my mind to go about 50/50 home country and Thailand.

Maybe someone who sees the light and changes his mind is the winner. It all depends on the needs and wants of the person.

There are many places in the USA if you left your house unattended it for six months out of the year it would soon become the neighborhood crack house.

Is there a "I've Got the Best of Both Worlds" brigade on that Forum topic?

That would be the LadyBoy thread?

.

Here it comes, Swissie.

You are not a soldier.

You will surely die like everybody else.

This will happen whether you 'succeed or fail'.

To avoid bad moody moments buy yourself three pairs of glasses of different colors.

If anybody comes here to stay and than leaves because he is angry with his g/f, wife or mia noi - he can't run from himself.

Come to me, baby, - I give any answer to any question! giggle.gif

I think for many its the last hurrah.

They come to thailand, dye their greying /greyed hair, slick it back but on their best khakis and $5 loafers/sandals, pull up a stool and congregate someone that's half their age.

This is a charade they could not possibly get away with at home. Its the last stand of a midlife crisis.

They'll go out with a whimper and return home to save up for the next trip or they'll die.

Sure. First, I live in a very low crime area. Second, I have a house sitter who stays here and keeps the place lived in. I also still have my housekeeper and landscape people weekly so it doesn't seem deserted.

I've never had a problem.

Bored AGAIN Swissie?? But I must say you are consistent, every topic you post is nonsense.

That would be poor planning,

Among other things.

These people lack proper interests to match their circumstances.

If they had proper interests, then they could be happy, and stay,

And would not look so foolish.

But I think you have really captured a bit of reality here.

NOT my reality, by any means, but reality for many that you have obviously seen.

Good job.

(I am out of likes, again, so I need to do this the hard, way, some might say the better way, and just write out why I like your comment. Good Grief, life can be a bitch.)

Was there not a Beatles song with the same [or similar] title?

Not Beatles. Just Paul McCartney. "The long and winding road" = Early stage of Farangs that are of the conviction, that over time and with enough ATM-Capabilities "we shall overcome".(Joan Baez, I believe.)

"Oh baby blue. it's all over now" (The rolling Stones). To whom the "Oh baby blue it's all over now" applies is clear.

Cheers.

We don't do anything special, except close the place up for winter. Drain the pipes, clean out the refrigerator, and lock the door. The house on one side is vacant all winter, and the house on the other side has somebody living there full time. One year we came back in the spring to find a squirrel had lived in the house all winter and it took an hour to coax him out.

Why is snow white?

Nobody likes to appear a failure. Men seem to brag more than women, and if they can't back up their brag then they quietly blend into the background. Women are a little more subtle and don't have to justify their mistakes and bad choices, even though they make just as many mistakes as men. We all make mistakes in life, but the smarter people learn from them and don't repeat their mistakes. Unfortunately, there are some people who continue to repeat their bad choices in life and they all want to blame someone else for them. Many of those types seem to find their way to Thailand. In the short time I was in Thailand I met many of them. They all had a sad story to tell but it was easy enough to read between the lines.

I am so sorry that you find my posts boring. There is only one remedy: By all means, YOU should be posting more often.

Your non-boring and your no-nonsense posts, would serve as a guide to all TV-Members and not only to me. It is not against Forum-Rules to "enrich" a forum by posting non-boring and no-nonsensical posts.

When are you going to start?

Cheers.

Hello, Hello
