Khao Yai puts brakes on 'noisy' TV car show

BANGKOK: -- The television car programme Kor Konrukrot has been banned by Khao Yai National Park authorities for making too much noise and violating National park law.

National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation department chief Manopat Huamuangkaew said Kor Konrukrot producers had asked for permission to film their programme at Haew Narok waterfall near Nuernhom station in Khao Yai National Park two months ago. The programme was scheduled for telecast on July 29 on Channel 5.

However, officials said the production was extremely noisy with cars 'drifting' fast round corners on park roads near the waterfall, which violated National Park rules. The officials told them to stop drifting and filming their programme.

Manopat said he'd heard of the complaints and will ask Channel 5 to scrap the scheduled programme and also admonish the programme's organiser.

According to the National Park law 2504, warrant number 16(17), driving fast and loudly interferes with both wildlife and the environment.

Manoput assigned head of Khao Yai National Park Kritsada Homsud to consult with the park's law department about any action that can be taken against the programme organiser.

The National Park also put Amorn Vision company on its blacklist and they will not be able to film anywhere in the Kao Yai National Park area.

Kritsada advised Khao Yai National Park staff to stop any future programme filming and ban the production from other national park areas.

I'd like to believe that there are Thai officials that are genuinely concerned about noise but judging on past performance, the prior comments about

bribes are probably closer to the truth. TIT. When did any government agency, police or otherwise, ever do anything about noise?

Kinda funny. I was leaving Kaeng Krachan today and asked when the park was closing for the summer and he said the 31st. They close each year for 3 months for wildlife and things to get back to normal. I looked kinda down, and he said don't worry, go to Kho Yai they don't care they never close.... LOL

Not kidding either. Exact words.
