Hi all,

I need to do a new passport soon coz it has just few pages remaining.

I know that the immigration transfer the stamp from the old one to the new one, but are they transferring also the multi entry visa I just got in kl?

Thanks.

They do not take any action at immigration if you have a visa entry - you just present both passports when you exit the country to take care of it and if you have a valid multi entry visa you present both passports again to use that visa. Immigration only transfers extensions of stay at office issuing such. For visa entry it is no longer required.

Thanks, it's a news for me, I really didn't know it.

Thanks a lot :-)

I've got my new passport and my consul gave me a letter and told me to go to the immigration office.

I've been there and they transferred both entry stamp and non immigrant o visa multi entry.

I attached a picture.

Merry Christmas.

You will still have to use your old passport to show your visa when you enter the country.

That stamp is only info about your visa entry it is not equal to a visa.

The officer said otherwise, but I'll sure take my old passport with me... just in case:-)

Thank you for your advice and merry Christmas.

Stamp has no info about your visa other than that it is a non-o. There is no visa number or expiration date on it.

Yes I deleted the number editing the picture and all the info are there, it says non-o (m) followed by the number, KL (consulate which issued it) and expiration date, 12 July 2014.

Take a better look to the pic :-)

Ok I see the white out and KL with date below stamp but that does not make it a usable visa. If you forget your old passport when you leave the country I can assure you will not get a 90 day entry from that stamp and other annotations.

Is this a new requirement?

I'm here on a multi-entry non-O (marriage) visa. Two year's ago when I renewed my UK passport I just exited Thailand showing both passports, immigration didn't have a problem with this. I continued showing both passports until the visa expired and the new one went into the new passport.

It is not a requirement if you have a visa. Just show both passports when leaving the country no need to make a trip to immigration.

Don't worry, I won't forget my old passport... thank you for your concern :-)

ok 1 visa's can not be tranferd

2 the stamp in you new passport is the details of your visa in your old passport this tells the officer that you have a visa in your old passport it is NOT A VISA

3 you must carry both passports untill the visa in your old passport runs out

4 there is no requrement for you to go to imm to do this all you do is show both passports

5 the visa in your old passport is still valid untill the end date, passport does not have to be current for the visa to be valid

6 the olny reason you need to go to imm is if you have an extension this needs to be tranfered and a extersion is NOT a visa

For my peace of mind I just followed the instructions of my consulate, actually I was not the only one at the immigration office, others were doing exactly the same thing. I'm not saying that it is strictly necessary to follow my footsteps...
