I think I'll postpone Friday night Texas Hold'em with the boys for a while, that's a bit close for comfort.

I've hidden the cribbage board and pegs already....................thumbsup.gif

I have had reason once to explain the rules of crib to a BiB, never, ever again................facepalm.gif

If you don't have piles of cash on the table, you might actually have a defence of "Not Gambling".

thumbsup.gif

Looks to me that they were set up by someone.

If that is true, there would be nothing you could do - except perhaps make a huge donation to the BiB to make it all go away, and you´s have to hope that whoever dobbed you in.didn´t have too strong a grip on the BiB.

Probably, seems they kept it discreet between farangs (maybe friends) and excluded thais for a reason. Quite possible a Thai wanted in and was refused so he has ran off to the BIB

Much more likely a farang dobbed them in.

Just some friends playing poker me thinks. The amazing journalistic work changes a friendly game HEY EVERYONE LOOK AT HOW AMAZING WE ARE! "ILLEGAL FARANG CASINO BUSTED!" They had starving naked Cambodians tied to the table. Come on seriously? Thai people do this everywhere. Police do it. Get a life and go after the pedo's in Pattaya.

With the equivalent of USD 9,000 on the table and a 72-page bank book filled in 4 months? Me thinks not.

Much more likely a farang dobbed them in.

Agreed.

What's your source. ? It said only about $2,000. 103,000 baht and 380 Euros? Have guys/friends coming and going from a particular bar. It's plausible it was just friends. Not a "casino"

Guess it wasn't just a few mates getting together on a Friday night for a few beers and hands after a long week then.

Thailand could've actually put on an authorised tournament for these guys in a big hotel and got some publicity. Showcased it.

Someone in that group should have the brains to move the game to Cambodia and eliminate the risk.

Yep, looks like one of the players happened to mention this game at a competitor's local game.

My mistake, just over USD 5,000. A bit much for a game among friends....

Yep we all do it. But the BIB are exempt from prosecution. As is anyone else with a uniform or politicians. Farangs are open game. Pardon the pun.

So, if the Thai government is so principally against gambling, I suppose that the VAT on their purchases in the Kingdom will be waived too and that there is no possibility to pay "black" tea money too. whistling.gif

there's a law against any kind of betting games in Thailand ...

Everybody signs that to understand together with the arrival card, unless that has been left out now.

I remember it clearly states drugs/narcotics, betting are illegal in Thailand and so is prostitution ... How it reality looks like is no secret ...

As a farang you're entitled to spend the $ 5,000.00 in any girly bar (9 persons) of your choice in just one evening. Get it?

"Friends playing poker"? Apparently not. This was a group containing several professional poker players (and that is a group of people that personally I would never want to come in contact with). For all anyone knows so far there could even have been some element of a scam involved with amateur gamblers being ripped off by professionals in collusion. Stranger things have happened here.

Gambling for money in Thailand is a crime for both Thais and farangs. If you choose to do it you take your chances, quite literally.
