I've just begun preparing myself for another visa application process, and notice that the Royal Thai Consulate-General has some new forms on their website (same information, just slightly different format) although I'm hoping to use the old forms.

But of most interest is the note under fees:

Non-Immigrant Visa (valid 1 year - multiple entry)
$180 Non-Immigrant Visa (valid 3 years - multiple entry) $360

This seems to suggest that as we can manage two years for the one year visa (one year from date of issue, so return the second year shortly before it expires to get a year's permission to remain, but without the extra entries, which one can get by separate permission), we should be able to manage four years on that new three year multiple entry visa.

Ideas? Seems at least a minor positive move.

3 yr Non Immigrant visa that would save a lot of hassle, do you have a link and anybody know the criteria for getting one and the biggest question is what country actually give them out

That visa is not new. Information about it has been for years on the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs website.

The 3 year business visa is specially for business travelers, you cannot get an extension of stay on it (and probably also not a work permit to work for a Thai company). It is only meant for having regular business meetings in Thailand and needs to be aproved before issued,

Aren't only companies registered under the B.O.I. entitled to obtain 3 year visas for their employees?

I believe the BOI is involved in the approval process, but it doesn't need to be BOI companies (situated in Thailand).

Companies falling under the One Stop Service Centre in Thailand get 2 year extensions of stay for their foreign employees, with re-entry permit.

Think it will all be a moot point considering the latest 'global' edict from the MFA that Consulates will only be allowed to issue TR visas directly. O and B visa applications, along with the full, MFA listed documentary support (notably the financials) will be accepted but sent on to their local Thai Embassy for approval or otherwise.

Incorrect info. There is no global edict from the MFA.

The only two honorary consulates that have been reported as needing embassy approval for multiple entry visas are Liverpool and Birmingham in the UK. I suspect that these two consulates got caught issuing questionable multiple entry visas.

There is also a report that Hull needs approval from London here.

But that so far is still only in the UK and only for multiple entry visas which is certainly not world wide.

Never said otherwise, just corrected your statement that there have so far only been reports about Liverpool and Birmingham.
