I just received my Non-Immigrant O visa based on marriage in Singapore. I'm American and I've lived in Thailand for seven years before moving to Singapore, and have been given "M" visas, and "B" visas, and this "O" visa in Singapore was by far the easiest and hassle free.

I showed up 1/2 hour before the embassy opened at 9:15am, and was the second in line. I submitted my paperwork, and the official took about five minutes to look through it all, and then said, "Pick up your visa tomorrow at 2pm." Even though the sign clearly said that a minimum of two days were needed to grant a visa. I showed up the next day, and when the embassy opened at 2, spent about 3 minutes in line and picked up my visa. In and out no hassles at all. All in all about 10 minutes line waiting, and 6 minutes of "face time."

Documents I provided:

1) Passport

2) Letter from Thai Wife

3) Copy of Marriage Certificate

4) Copy of Wife's Thai ID Card

5) Copy of Wife's Passport

6) Copy of Plane Ticket to Thailand

7) Bank Balance of over $17,000 Sing Dollars (They just accepted a printout from my online banking page that showed the balance, date, and my name, no need for a physical passbook or to get it certified by the bank).

8) Copy of my Singapore employment pass.

With the same amount of money (in baht of course) you showed to get the visa you could of gotten an extension of stay at immigration instead of making border runs every 90 days.

Food for thought for next year, though I do travel around quite a bit in the region for work. Can I get an extension of stay off of this visa when the time comes, or do i need to get another Non-Imm O?

Thanks!

This site is an invaluable source of navigating the confusion of visa information for all of us Thai Expats, and I really appreciate you taking out the time to help.

As the are now allowing 45 days early for extensions of stay from previous extensions of stay suspect they may also allow 45 days early from visa entry but have not seen reports of anyone trying yet.
