I will be going overseas and returning the day before my visa expires. I have an old multiple reentry permit. I have already extended my visa for another year.

The question is, can I apply for a new multiple reentry permit at Swannapoom when I leave, even though my old one is still valid? There are 2 reasons. One is to avoid having to go back to CW just to get the new reentry permit but the other, main one, is just in case my return gets delayed by a couple days. I don't expect that to happen but I'd hate to be delayed and come back without a new reentry permit, thereby voiding my brand new visa extension.

Also, my understanding from previous posts is that I do not have to bring a photo, filled out form and copies of my passport to the airport, that imm will do them there for an extra charge, and that imm is open 24 hrs. Is that still correct? However, can I avoid the extra charge if I bring photo, filled out form and copies with me?

I didn't have time to get a new reentry permit at CW after I got my visa extension.

You can't have two valid Re-Entry Permits at one time. But, I see no reason why they wouldn't be willing to cancel the old one and sell you a new one.

Isn't that exactly what they do every day when people get new extensions and new Re-Entry Permits a few weeks before expiration of both?

If you have extended your old re-entry permit is no longer valid. So yes you can obtain a new one to match your current permitted to stay at either immigration issuing the extension or at airport (but always best to obtain at immigration while you have time to allow for any delay).

Thank u. Had never thought that my old RE permit was cancelled by the new extension. Looks like I'll have to get a new one at the airport before I leave.

Is it still true that the RE permit desk at Swannapoom is open 24/7 and handles the photo, copies for u?

Thanks, I already filled out the form cause I thought I was going to get a RE permit at CW but ran out of time.
