I have ran a business in Thailand since 2004.The business have been shut down and will be, if possible (any suggestions?) , put to rest for future projects. I do no longer need my work permit but want to continue to live in Thailand. I'm 44 years old and think my only option is to apply for a Permanent residence and I'm okay with that even the cost of 200k. My current permit to stay and WP is due 16 November.

Questions :

Can apply for a PR already now or only in December? If not, will my then expired 9 consecutive years Non-imm still count?

Do I need to apply for a new visa during the PR processing time?

Any other suggestions?

Thankful for any advices.

PR application is only in December and if not employed with monthly income of 80k do not believe much chance of obtaining. You might want to give a read to the PR thread linked from pinned information at top of forum. You do have study, volunteer work, other work, tourist options available if unable to obtain PR for the 6 years until retirement becomes an option.

you need your tax return receipt from this year showing tax paid on at least 80K per month salary over the previous 12 months.

Does not money on the bank counts. I have some fairly large assets abroad that could be transferred here.

If you could bring the equivalent of 10 million baht into the country you could get extensions of stay for investment.

You can put money in bank accounts or government bonds.

See 2.5 of Thai Police Order 777/2551.
