Well. can administrators read our PMs?

Is there a program that alerts administrators if certain key words are used in Personal Messages?

Read PM(s) dont think so, but there is smth thats a key word filter. For example they don't want you mentioning the word "gambling", put a key word filter which changes it to some other arbitrary term of their choosing.

You're not an administrator, so, you wouldn't know.

After all, a forum program is just a simple database. Datbases can be searched.

Answer to the first question is no.

Brit has answered the second.

You can safely resume selling sensitive information to North Korean spies now :o

Surely the PM will reside on the host server and any administrator can access it?

Is it the case that administrators can read them, but, refrain from doing so, or, they are unable to, even if they wanted to?

If the second case, why are they unable to?

I think I need an answer from an administrator, not a moderator. With all due respect, moderators don't have the same tools that administrators have.

George?

The reason I ask, is that certain banned members claim that they were banned due to the contents of PMs that they sent to other members.

If this is true, then PMs are NOT private messages.

It's called encryption, and it means that only the intended recipient can read it. As for admins having more tools, it doesn't mean that mods don't know their way around Invision's admin control panel. What these banned members seem to forget is that often the recipient isn't quite so closed mouthed as they had hoped. If you want further info please email an admin.
