The other day I was driving around and every time I decide to park at Thapae, to be precise at Black Canyon just opposite the hotel..I dont understand what's up with the parking there.

If I turn in to that small soi with Black C on my left, every single bike seems to be parked on the left even though there's a do not park sign there and you can also see the red/white lines on the pavement just to make it a point that you are really not supposed to park there. On the other side of this soi, opposite of the before mentioned coffee shop there are no signs..in my opinion that means I should leave my bike there. Still nobody seems to park there. Everybody parks at the coffeeshop and the post office next to it I assume because its not allowed. I have no other explanation.

So last time i was there, out of curiosity I took it upon myself to try it out..to park where everyone does. I left my bike there, went on to meet this girl then a bit later on my way back something made me swear 2 minutes straight: my bike was the only one that got chained. I guess a cop, supposedly a kind one just realized that it was not allowed to park there. Of course a couple of tuk tuk drivers were already sitting there, knowing that somebody will need a ride to the nearest station to pay the fine.

The moral of the story: curiosity killed the cat.

The question: am I wrong about the parking there or am I just naive to park where it is not allowed?
