I brought my dogs over four years ago. It cost me about $250 each with United. Last week I learned it would cost me almost $1000 for the 60 pounder, and $1150 for the 80 pounder, to take them back to the States. And, with United, I have to take two flights, only one dog per passenger allowed.

Anybody have recent experience with other airlines at cheaper rates?

Also, anybody have travel kennels they want to sell? (My landlord took the doors off my old ones, to use on his barbecue.)

Thanks for any help.

I haven't checked prices for a while, but I am always concerned about the limit of dogs per person ...because I have a lot of dogs, and am planning to move back to the US, some day ...I never know when, but check it out from time to time.

I have found some airlines have a 2 dog per person limit ...I have more than 2. But your price seems really too high. I flew my dogs here on Singapore Air and had no problems (except that you need some kind of approval, to transit in Sing with them, which I found out too late, and had to delay my flight, so I could get such approval/permit.) But Sing Air is good about changing flights without fees, or small fees.

I can only suggest you start looking up "pet policies" over the internet for various airlines that do the route you need. (I also flew small, tiny dogs here, so never checked the price for larger dogs like yours.)

That totally sucks that your landlord took parts off your kennels!! Proper flight kennels are pretty expensive, esp, for large dogs ...I imagine in Thailand, they might be imports, and really costly! Why did you allow that, or what happened? Can you get them back, are they ruined? I would look for some compensation there, that is really ridiculous!! I guess you thought you were never going back? Kennels are always needed, for something, you now know I guess.

I don't know where you are flying to either, but maybe flying to somewhere nearby ...and not all the way home, might be an option, and just drive the rest of the way?? (In case you aren't ending up at a major hub?)

I've thought about paying someone to fly with me, so that I can take more dogs per flight ...but you shouldn't need that if you fly with only 2 ...many airlines allow 2 per person. Sorry I don't have great suggestions, but you don't say where you are leaving from (BKK or not?) and where you are going to. (For example, if you are in CM, there are some flights on Korean Air to the US, that only require one stop in Korea, and allow 2 dogs ...that is great if you aren't already in BKK, as local flights with dogs add a lot of time to the flights, and the hot weather is dangerous.) That reminds me, you know you can't fly all year round due to heat right??

I can leave from CM, and I can land pretty much anywhere in the 48 states.

I've spent hours on the net looking at airline policies, with little success. Korea Air? Okay, I'll call.

Thanks.

Hi there,

I brought my 2 dogs here from Germany almost 10 years ago, it was about 700 EUR per dog.

You should contact the soidog org guys, they should best know since they fly adopted dogs to the overseas, also the States on a regular basis, they will know for sure which is the best and cheapest

airline to go and which would take 2 dogs at a time,

They even might be able to find you someone to voluntary accompany your 2nd dog, if needed...since as far as I remember, each dog needs to be accompanied by one human... not sure about that, I could be wrong though. Anyway best is you speak directly to one of the founders, John is always very nice and keen to help if he can! I will pm you his email hereafter. Good luck!

Check Air France. They were excellent when I came to Thailand with my dogs. I'm not sure about limits, but their prices were low and the service was really good.
