PM to meet with military leaders on reshuffle list next week

BANGKOK, 22 August 2013 (NNT) – Prime Minister and Defense Minister Yingluck Shinawatra will call a meeting with leaders of the three armed forces next week, to give her guideline on the annual reshuffle of high-ranking military officers, which is usually announced at the end of the fiscal year in September.

Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Air Force Air Chief Marshal Prachin Chantong mentioned that military leaders will listen to the guideline to be given by Prime Minister Yingluck, who is concurrently the Defense Minister, before drawing up their respective lists. He believed that the reshuffle will be made clearer by the end of August.

When asked about a widespread concern over nepotism in the reshuffle, Air Chief Marshal Prachin affirmed that all appointments and transfers will be based on the level of experience and individual merits. He added that promotions will be given to persons who have handled the work in the line of promotions with responsibilities and diligence.

He said Miss Yingluck has yet to fix the date for the submission of military reshuffle lists and the date should be known after her meeting with military leaders next week.
