Thanks Connda, you make fair points and thanks for the reply. Those you list as being staffed from the world of business were appointees to existing Govt departments. Musk's DOGE seems rather different to me. And Musk is surely unusual in holding Court in Cabinet meets? You say, " If his vision falls flat and leads to economic and Geo-political instability, hell, I'll vote for alternative candidates myself come the mid-term and 2028 elections." It may be only 45 days so far, but it seems to me we have our fair share of 'economic and Geo-political instability' already. ATB -

I get that in cold climes. But I wonder which is more likely to kill you. Is it the one in a million chance of drowning, or the one in ?? chance of overheating in the tropical sun wearing a heart insulator that keeps the heat in while you're exerting yourself paddling to beat the band? Years ago in Texas, I made the personal decision to keep the life jacket at hand, but not wear it because they're too hot in the scorching sun. If it's cooler out, I wear them, pre adjusted because they're mine. Added to that was the absolute sweaty stench of a typical rental life jacket. I used to rent canoes on the Guadelupe River and the rental life jackets smelled like they'd never been defunked of BO. It was enough to gag a maggot. In Thailand, I always carried my own when kayaking (and even to rent a canoe at Lumpini and QSNCC), but that's because I lived there. -

WeChat pay still doesn’t work in Thailand unless you are Chinese
i'm going to china next month for the first time, and after a friend's horror stories about all his (foreign) c/c being blocked in china, i'm trying to get ahead of the game. I installed wechat pay and alipay, and went through the id verification process on both. now i linked a (German) credit card to both apps and tried to pay at 7-11 in Thailand, and it didn't work. My c/c company confirms that on their side there is no issue with using my c/c through those apps. So the problem is with the apps themselves. A chinese friend has also sent me cash into my wechat wallet, i received that and was able to transfer it back to him with no problem. but trying to use this "cash" to pay at 7-11 again didn't work. so my question is: is this not working because i'm in thailand? can i expect this to work when i'm in china? from the OP, it sounds like it just doesn't work outside of china, but it WILL work in china. can someone confirm this is true?
