K Pranit, 086-951-6099 He used to have a shop in chalong, but overhead, low prices and higher rent forced him out . He does house calls.

Is this the same guy as above? Please say it's so smile.png But if not, THANKS anyway, will keep his number.

If you had stated your reason for needing a callout earlier you may have got a better response. The need for a callout when alternatives are available for most people plus your comment about the English guy would have been enough for me not to have offered assistance even if I was where I could help.

Too many people expect other foreigners to drop everything and help them with a computer free or for a very minimal amout without taking into account the cost of the training the person fixing the computer has expended. Few will also reciprocate with for example help in painting the wall for the person who fixed the computer.

The REASON was superfluous. I asked for call outs, end of. If you don't have one, don't post.

As to 'help' from 'other foreigners'. You gotta be kidding! 'Yes any time you need a ride' 'Yes I'll swing by and fix your whatever some time' Ha!laugh.png And please, no 'oh, poor Billy no mates' jibes. I've plenty. Most of whom seem to still be in 'I'm on holiday' mode.

i'd rather P.A.Y a competent (rare as hen's, I know) THAI.

Pranit did have a shop on the opposite side of the chalong police station down the road in a shophouse, so it's probably the same guy you're thinking of jpeg. Call him and ask.

Few tips how to get help from IT professionals.

- Provide as much of information as you can. Even if you can not understand the error messages, which the computer presents, it's the professionals work to understand those.

This will starts the analytical process of understanding what might be wrong. In your case that would mean that the IT professional might only need to do one visit, instead of two. First to get the needed information, second to replace faulty hardware if that's the case.

- Be humble. IT professional have the knowledge how to fix your computer, you don't. Not all experts wish nor need to work for grumpy people. It's simply not fun.

- Have a thick wallet. Professionals, in pretty much any field, charge quite a lot more than 500-1000B for an house call.
