August 27, 201312 yr I am wondering why Mitsubishi Thailand has not yet issued a recall for inspection of front suspension arm and possible repair for the Pajero/Montero Sport and Triton/Strada 2009-current model. I called up Mitsubishi's hotline this morning and they said there is no memo yet for a recall but if there is one owners will be notified by phone and email. Basically there is a possible welding spot in the front suspension lower arm that does not meet the spot size requirements. No accidents have been reported for this production glitch. I'll post further should there be an announcement. http://paultan.org/2013/08/19/recall-mitsubishi-triton-and-pajero-sport/ http://indianautosblog.com/2013/08/mitsubishi-pajero-sport-triton-malaysia-recall-92259 http://www.interaksyon.com/motoring/mitsubishi-motors-ph-to-recall-montero-sport-strada-models/
August 27, 201312 yr Popular Post Car makers in Thailand tend not to recall cars... HOWEVER, I wouldn't be surprised if your next check-up takes 2 hours longer
August 27, 201312 yr Maybe the potential loss due to litigation is cheaper than recalling all the cars.
August 27, 201312 yr Maybe the potential loss due to litigation is cheaper than recalling all the cars. Accidents happen every day in Thailand. Who ever goes and checks the car for mechanical faults? Most of the time it is blamed on the driver anyway. In any case, a worrying recall for which we should take action... Maybe with MItsu HQ in Japan?
August 27, 201312 yr Author I was thinking of bringing my PJS for inspection but I'm not sure if the mechanics have been briefed at.all what to look for and how to repair it,,,, they might still be under training at Japan??? Wishful thinking
August 28, 201312 yr I took my car in this weekend and they took 4 hours for a regular maintenance...(pre-booked and everything). Do you got any pictures of where they might have repaired? I will check tonight if they have been fiddling with it.
August 28, 201312 yr Thanks for the information, einstein640. Please keep us updated. On reading the attached in OP this is of no concern for Thai vehicles they have the vin numbers for vehicles effected. . As with anything there can be a production fault it get's picked up but by the time it does some vehicles are already shipped. Same a while back some vehicles were shipped to Australia with a steering shaft problem but it was only for those exported to Aus.
August 28, 201312 yr It does not appear to be a design flaw, but an occasional insufficient weld issue. It could be that nothing here has been recalled as the defective parts were limited to non-Thai facilities.
August 28, 201312 yr Lets hope that it done a little better than Hyundai's effort on one of their models in Australia some years ago. Pop rivets and the holes they go in probably made the car weaker not stronger! I think it was the Excel....from memory???
