Samsung commercial goes viral after being derided for being the worst ever filmed
Leaked advert criticised for using 'world's worst actors'
Commercial was never meant to surface outside of Korea
Actor claims he was just 'following director's instructions' after being slated for poor performance

By JENNIFER SMITH

A Samung advert has gone viral after the actors it features were deemed 'the world's worst' by online critics.
The video, which was leaked on to YouTube, has faced criticism with thousands of people claiming the the men and woman featured desperately fail to convince the viewer of their excitement about the promoted piece of computer hardware.

The three-minute long film which praises the technology company's 840 EVO Series Solid State drive has been taken down from various user accounts.

Nothing wrong with the ad, but it is misleading. Windows is poorly designed and as such, even with a SSD drive, Windows will slow down after a period of time. This is due to the problem with the registry. I still have to reformat my drive and reinstall Windows about once a year if I want it to run fast. Programs are allowed to insert records into the registry but there is zero guaranty that the records will be removed when the program is removed. Programs are allowed to modify DLLs but when the program is removed it doesn't revert the DLLs to their original state. Your browser can save information in the registry. All kinds of crap goes on that doesn't get cleaned up properly.

Nope, a SSD will work faster than a conventional HD but it will slow down in short order. No IF's No Ands No Buts.

You are both correct.

problems with windows design and the registry will still cause problems and system slow down, but an SSD will make the system run faster in general. An SSD will ensure you get t that Blue screen so much fasterlaugh.png

I believe the above conversations have proven my original perception of this "viral advert" in that it was done as a deliberate ploy by Samsung.

Question: How do you market something as technical and non-sexy as an SSD?

Answer: Produce an advert with poor acting and a naff script and then push that fact on the social media sites causing it to go viral.

This will make non technical people watch the advert and start asking questions about what an SSD is and what it does.

I am sure this is a much more effective way of marketing these things, rather than trying to fight over performance figures in the technical press with a very limited audience.

I hope it works, because if it does it should drive the price down and then we will all benefit

Windows 8 and SSD works fine and doesn't exhibit any of the symptoms you suggest.

Of course if you are adding and removing programs all the time and fragmenting your registry, download one of the many free tools to clean it up.

And use something like Soluto to make sure you aren't overloading your startup.

I'd say 90% of Windows performance problems are caused by ignorant users who do no housekeeping.

The rest are probably caused by McAfee AV.

I use to be a big windows fan always defending it and blaming lazy users who "do no housekeeping". I no longer use a windows PC and have thus eliminated the need or hassle of "house cleaning". Not everyone is computer literate as you seem to suggest that you are.

I missed the part about that commercial not being intended to be viewed outside Korea.

With that in mind, the commercial may be giving outsiders a peak into how we foreigners are viewed by S.Koreans?

I must be a perv... I was watching her nipples! w00t.gifcheesy.gifwub.png

did`nt notice till I read your remark Thank you LOL

I must be getting too old, but even with a second run through I didn't see anything worth getting excited about!!

Agree. These guys have either been busy draining the 'see-sip' or they're the type who get excited by things they see in the clouds. My ironing board has more curves than she has (and comparable acting ability, I might add)...

Ya, unfortunately, I would say you are wrong, at least in my case. Yes I install and uninstall a fair amount of programs but not a lot and after I uninstall them I run CCleaner. Still have the same slow down after about 6-8 months. Don't visit any porn so I am not getting any viruses, ad ware, mall ware, and don't install anything I don't know what it is or does. Keep my system very clean, yet Windows just slows down after awhile.

I should try W8 again but that UI is something awful. I could never understand people that cluttered their desktop with icons and this UI is about as silly. To each his own.

I will agree with you that McAfee AV messes up Windows something awful, I stopped even trying it about 10 years ago when it wouldn't let me uninstall it.

Housekeeping should be relegated to deleting files you don't want and reorganizing your folders and removing programs that are obsolete and installing better programs. The user shouldn't have to figure out what some moron programmer left behind or f_d up. I still don't understand why Windows, MacOS, IOS, Android, and all the other OSs don't force user data onto another partition and force all programs to store user setting in the partition. Android is just as bad as Windows in allowing programmers to just just blithely dumps sheit everywhere.

Sorry but script doesn't separate the comment correctly so it starts here...

Dell Inspiron Core2Duo 1.8 GHz, 2GB RAM , 5yrs old, WIN 7 32bit and up and running in less than 45 secs. from cold start. The registry issue is gone and only valid for WIN XP and older. If you can't handle an operating system don't use it. If you can't handle a car, don't drive it. Stay stupid and choose to be controlled by the bitten fruit. Get really smart and go with the penguin.
