webfact Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 Kim Jong-un, North Korean leader, reportedly has ex-girlfriend, 11 others executedSEOUL: -- A North Korean firing squad last week executed a former girlfriend of leader Kim Jong-un and 11 other entertainers for allegedly violating laws banning pornography - at least according to a South Korean newspaper. The report by Chosun Ilbo, an English-language newspaper of a Seoul media conglomerate, published on Thursday deemed the reported August 20 executions a death blow to expectations that Mr Kim would oversee a transition of his isolated and tyrannised people into a more open era.Like many stories out of the Hermit Kingdom, the reports remain unconfirmed and are based on unnamed sources. In this episode, among the dozen performers shot to death while their families and former band members were forced to watch was Hyon Song-wol, a singer Mr Kim reportedly courted a decade ago but was forced to abandon by his dictatorial father, Kim Jong-il.Hyon was pictured by North Korean state television performing at a concert August 8 in Pyongyang, the North Korean capital, less than two weeks before her execution, Chosun Ilbo reported, posting a picture of the singer juxtaposed against one of Kim applauding at the concert.Full story: : http://www.smh.com.au/world/kim-jongun-north-korean-leader-reportedly-has-exgirlfriend-11-others-executed-20130830-2suqx.html-- The Sydney Morning Herald 2013-08-30
Popular Post jaidam Posted August 30, 2013 Popular Post Posted August 30, 2013 I know exactly how he feels. Free of the baggage he can spend more time working on his golf game, his dad played the world's best round ever, something like 11 hole in ones on an 18 round course. Absolute legend! 11
WitawatWatawit Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 Does he get another medal for this? A chip off the old blockhead, for sure. Would he have had his father executed for flying in European prostitutes? 1
Popular Post Thaddeus Posted August 30, 2013 Popular Post Posted August 30, 2013 If North Korea had any oil or gas, I wonder what would happen. 9
Popular Post theblether Posted August 30, 2013 Popular Post Posted August 30, 2013 I suppose it's one way to get even with an ex. Here's the bottom line, this guy is not a problem for the West, he's China's problem. The Americans played the last "nuclear" drama perfect. Where can he go after threatening a nuclear attack? Nowhere. He's shot his load and now he's looking like the fool he really is. Give him any space and he will take a mile. What he's needing is to be ignored, and if mentioned at all, ridiculed. Oh, and at every opportunity, tell China, he's your boy, you sort it out. The Chinese are sick of him already, they'll eventually overthrow him, especially if he starts throwing missiles at South Korea again. ; On the other hand, some of the Chinese leaders will be looking at his method of dealing with exes, and thinking, might try that. ps. News just in, turns out the ex volunteered for execution, she couldn't get the sight of his podgy body out of her mind and thought, eff it, no one should have to live with that memory. 6
NCC1701A Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 He is a sick coward... machine gunning women. The families of the people executed were sent to prison for life. 1
Popular Post geriatrickid Posted August 30, 2013 Popular Post Posted August 30, 2013 What is unbelievable is that Europeans pay large sums of money to go and visit North Korea. Sick, sick, sick. 5
Credo Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 I've known many men who have thought about such things, but I never thought I'd see the day when someone who was actually sane (?) do it. I've always tried to keep an open mind about NK, but it's obvious now that 'none as blind as those who will not see.'
nosatisfaction Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 What is unbelievable is that Europeans pay large sums of money to go and visit North Korea. Sick, sick, sick. What is even more unbelievable is that some pay much larger sums to stay here in LOS and still always complain this one only 55 5 2

Popular Post Sydebolle Posted August 30, 2013 Popular Post Posted August 30, 2013 Because of this, Kim Jong un's popularity dropped to an all-time low of 127% 8
SinglePot Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 "Kim Jong-un has been viciously eliminating anyone who he deems a challenge to his authority," the newspaper said, quoting an unidentified source. The executions "show that he is fixated on consolidating his leadership." Welcome to The Party Mr Xi Jinping.
zydeco Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 Listened to the report on the link. Utterly bizarre. Those shot were guilty of pornography and possessing Bibles. Sounds like a North Korean version of Cecil B. DeMille was at work.
boomerangutang Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 Meanwhile at secret building # x00658-H craftsmen were busy crafting a new medal to pin to the man's ample chest. Reportedly, it's 2 inches high, and depicts a girl stitched in to a black leather suit, from head to toe, with a cute platinum sword piercing her chest, and a dozen little rubies arranged to depict blood spurting out.
Frank James Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 I don't see what benefit China gains from propping up this insane regime. Are they really that worried about having a strong, democratic, unified Korea for a neighbor? I had some hopes that this Western-educated young man would turn his country in a new direction. This can't go on.

This can't go on. I have the same concern about the emerging middle-class Chinese who want their son or daughter to go to a British public school. Seems like a case of 'in one ear, out the other'. The motivation for a Western education.....?
Sayonarax Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 What a sad little boy he is..If anyone should be hunted down like a dog and executed publicly, it should be that fat scum bag. 2
baboon Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 Syria isn't going according to plan? Right, let's get back to North Korea and the pantomime villain. The sheeple always get hot under the collar on this one!
Popular Post Trouble Posted August 30, 2013 Popular Post Posted August 30, 2013 What is unbelievable is that Europeans pay large sums of money to go and visit North Korea. Sick, sick, sick. "Sick, Sick, Sick" At least when I speak about the DPRK, I can do so from some knowledge base however insignificant that may be, and not from ignorance. I visited DPRK last year. At least I have seen first hand the propaganda fed to the people, their forced obedience to the Kim's, and the fear of speaking out. Everywhere one goes there are statues, murals, etc. of the Kim's. You do know that the Kim family saved the nation and solved problems from factory production to food production singlehandedly. No I did not see the worst but on can only imagine what it is like if the people of Pyongyang live like they do (although a cleaner city than exists anywhere in Thailand). It all looks good on the surface but you look in the windows and see a sort of dreary existence. The amount of money I contributed to the North Korean economy on my tour was insignificant to their economy. There is nothing to buy, no going to restaurants to eat (even the "special" restaurants were awful), no entertainment venues, etc. Not much money is spent outside the tour cost. On the other hand if by traveling there and talking to a few people or being present as a foreigner just maybe those I did come in contact with have a different opinion of the rest of the world than the propaganda fed to them daily. Certainly the guides know that there is a different world out there than they are being told. I would go again. It is a relic of the past, unfortunately still existing today. Still worth seeing something like this first hand. Just maybe someday if enough tourists go there people there will note a difference in what they see and what they are told about the outside world. Maybe the sums paid to travel there are "large" to you but actually relatively insignificant to others. 4
