11-o-clock this morning we discussed whether to have CTH or not. We already have True cable and Vinasat satellite but we miss premier league.

Ok, found a website advertising 3 years full package. Pay 2 years get one free. This works out at 340 baht per month.

Called the installation guy at about 3 pm and ordered CTH. He came at 8 pm and took about an hour to install as we have a complicated set up. He then spent an hour telling us how to use the box and talking about satellite tv in general. Really nice and friendly guy. Installation fee 1200 Baht.

Now watching CTH tv.

I just had CTH installed as well. Very good picture but limited english language programmes.

One question. I paid my 1800 baht equipment deposit as part of the installation fee. I also paid 2 x 962 baht monthly fees. One was a month's advance subscription but the other was listed as "deposit monthly fee". Was that another deposit or a second month's subscription fee? Anyone else paid this?

Chris; I just had it installed also and I am absolutely rapped ! !

As far a the 'limited' English is concerned; you ARE aware that you can change most western-program's language [to English] by simply pushing a button ? ? ?

I have the CTH satellite installation and the three-year package cost 25,000 Baht, including a deposit for the set top box (refundable at end of contract). This is the equivalent of 599 Baht per month for the next three years. Nothing more to pay until July 2016.

P.S.. There are enough English speaking programmes for me - and the overall sports coverage is pretty good too.

I dumped TrueVisions and got CTH. Not having an extensive choice - for my taste - of English spoken programs is sometimes a blessing: No TV can be a welcome experience.

Sky News was a revelation: how to present news in an attractive way. All EPL matches in HD is also great, but I miss tennis.

CTH workdwith subcontractors and that is I think the reason why the 'end bill' is different between different locations. I did not have to pay installation, but had to pay VAT on the contract, but not on the deposit. Local subcontractor is also Thai only.

Yes it was a subcontractor supplying the box.

We paid for 2 years and got one free. That was the promotion.

SD pictures are of much better quality than True but.... I feel that the aspect ratio is wrong. The picture seems to be zoomed. I have tried adjusting but it doesn't seem to work. It's not a big problem but just seems different.

What are the options for connecting the CTH box (descrambler?) to the TV? HDMI? RCA? YPbPr?

I have a very basic local cable provider in Jomtien, but am considering adding a CTH satellite dish. I'd like to be able to toggle the TV (via the TV remote) between the video sources: local cable provider vs CTH satellite without fussing with cables.

Assuming your TV has got multiple HDMI inputs it's easy. The CTH box can be connected by one HDMI and your other sources via another. Just change the input point on the TV while watching.

Thanks. The local cable provider uses the old round coax cable (no converter box) direct to my TV, so if CTH can use HDMI, then it works the way I want.

i was wondering about this as well , 2 x 962 baht , i though it was for 2 months subscription but it turns out half of it is for something called a membership fee !
free installation but a pay for a membership fee .......i don't expect this is included in the deposit either
i am paying monthly and have to go back to England sooner than i expected and have been told the only way to get my deposit money back for the box ( 1800 baht ) is to pay for 10 months , so thats another 9 months total 8658 baht ...dosent seem worth it sad.png
wish i had just stuck with 365 sport now as it seems a much better deal facepalm.gif

If you find 2 others who also want CTH, you can get it for 13200 each for 3 years. That's 366 per month

I've just received my first bill and seemed to have been badly over charged/conned.

When I initially called CTH they told I would have to wait two months for them to install unless I went don the subcontractor route which I did.

So, they came round to install B2500.

I was informed by CTH over selecting the 899 package that initially I would have o pay the box deposit B1800 + 1 month B899 + VAT = something around 2700.

This bill has an installation charge B561.

Prepaid subscription 960.

Box deposit 1800

Monthly subscription deposit 960.

Which means my first bill is B4280! Just what exactly is this monthly deposit? Will we have to pay it every month? If so were looking at B1920 per month! Significantly higher than the true gold package (I mainly in it or EPL)

Anyone had proper clarification on just what this charge is? Also, anyone noticed the installation charge when they already paid for this?

Giving them a stern call tomorrow.
