We have been looking at a number of different trucks, the options we are looking for are 4 door, Auto, Leather, Navigator, Diesel.

We are trying to stay around 1 million baht all in.

The Isuzu seems to have all the options we are looking for as well as all the active and passive safety features that other trucks like the Toyota Vigo does not have.

We live in Mukdahan and are having trouble finding a vehicle to test drive or to even look at. We like the look of the X Series (Brochure) although not sure the 2.5 litre engine is big enough. The V Cross has a 3.0 litre engine so more power but not as sporty looking. We are going to Khon Kaen tomorrow to see if we can find one to look at.

I have read on TV that people who own the V Cross are happy with their purchase.

Does anyone out there own a 4 door X Series automatic ?

Can anyone advise between these 2 trucks ?

thank you for all your help

I have the D-Max four-door, automatic with the 3L engine and think it’s great. It is the Z-Prestige version, so you get leather and NAV and whatnot. I have had it for eighteen months and have put just over 66,666 Km on it. (I happened to notice all the sixes the other day.)

I would not get the V-Cross unless you need the 4WD, or unless you just like the way it looks.

I also have a six month old Isuzu Spark with the 2.5L VGS engine, and personally, I would not buy the smaller engine as the 3L has much more power and better fuel economy.

I thought the top model 4-door X-series had 3L and auto, no? You need to get the brochures and look through them. Do not just believe what the salesman tells you. I thought the red-trimmed leather seats in the X-Series were bad-ass!

I used to have the 2.5 liter, and it was more than sufficient, also for hauling heavier loads etc. After the 2.5 I bought a 3.0 liter, and that was much more fun. So next time if Isuzu again I'd go for a 3.0 liter, even though the 2.5 is enough.

Which active and passive safety features you refer to?

Safety features in a Thai ute are like paddle shifters on a cvt....

drive safely as the higher driving position is most definately a false sense of security.

I bet whoever was in that truck had a headache net day.

Vigo just got a small upgrade with small improvements to the suspension and dual SRS standard on all models. Prerunner 2.5E ABS 5/AT costs 857K.. No other gimmicks though..

Dual SRS Airbags, ABS, EBD, BA, ESC, TCS.

The only down-side to the Toyota is the ten-year old platform. It's a nice truck.

And only nice if you like a hearing aid beige interior smile.png

Joking aside they're all much of a muchness, but as above, the Toyota is the oldest platform of the lot right now, I think a new Toyota is in the works though possibly next year.

Also don't rule out the new Ford Ranger or the smiley Mazda BT50 - both doing pretty well, whilst personally the Ford wins for me with the aesthetics and options available.

They upgraded the interior colours too :)

Driven both the BT-50 and Ranger a couple of months ago and while on paper they clearly superior to the rest of the trucks, I found that the Weego provided a better ride.. New IMV platform will be available in 2015-2016
