How can I make File transfer (mac) work with my Samsung Ace 3?

I have a Samsung Ace 3 - GT-S7270L.

all my other Android devices happily communicate with my MacBook using file transfer, but this little bugger won't have any of it.

I've uninstalled Kies - I think - but still no luck.

anyone experienced and solved this problem?

BT is very slow - and File Transfer is a very usable option (USB) - I use it on all my other Android devices to communicate with my Mac.

I also have a Wi-Fi app........
