beginner
Is it possible to renew an O-A Non Immigrant (retirement) extension/visa whilst out of the country? Can it be done by a UK consulate or the Thai Embassy in London? There is no reference to obtaining extensions on the websites. Emails have not been replied to. I usually renew each year at Jomtien but this year am/will be in the UK when the existing extension expires. All the usual conditions will be met. Maestro
Unfortunately for you, a Thai consulate cannot give a retirement extension or any others extension. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app
steve187
It looks like you will have to obtain a new non 'o' and re-enter Thailand and then start the extension process over again Within Thailand extensions are issued ( visa's can be issued in certain circumstances) outside Thailand visa's only issued Edited September 29, 2013 by steve187
beginner
Thank you Maestro and thank you Steve. I feared that extensions can only be issued in Thailand and you have confirmed it. Presumably I can re-enter on 30 day visa exempt and sort out a new visa at Jomtien.
lopburi3
Airline may not allow boarding however. You need a visa for one way travel over 30 days so if you can obtain a new o-a multi entry it could cover almost two more years. A single o visa would make travel and extension easy. JLCrab
Depending upon just how many weeks/months before the expiration of your current extension, If you go to your local IMM Office with travel documents including payment receipt for your airline ticket they may let you obtain a new extension earlier than the norm. lopburi3
But believe the "am/will be" means he has already departed Thailand. But in general believe many allow 45 days early now (for sure Chiang Watanna).
