the wifey and I are looking at a divorce very soon and for various reasons we will not go into,

both her and I want her to keep my surname , so the "standard" reply from the amphur was

"you divorce, you change name"

but. . my question is TIT, and does anybody know of a workaround for this.. either having

a lawyer come up and help out or her changing her name and then changing it back again

right away..

Practical advise here?

Thank you

What you cna do is contact the DOPA, the department that regulates the registars at the amphurs.

www.dopa.go.th There is an information number on their webiste.

They can tell you there rules, the manual might even be published on their webiste (in Thai).

Changing her name and changing it back again is not possible, a Thai must have a Thai name. So she can't change back to your foreign name.
