Secure car parking, Aran/Poipet border?

Featured Replies

We are planning to make a trip to Siem Reap around the 26th. What I would like to do is drive my car to the border, park it at a secure parking lot, then procede on to Siem Reap for a few days. Does anyone know if this type of facility is available at the border? And if so where is it located? Thanks for any info.

no place there that is securer but plenty of places to Park, same with the Pailin border crossing,,

Taxi from the border to sr is $40-50 and 2 -2 1/2 hours max

Driven it more than a few times

You can park just before the border on your right hand side. Drive in, they will tell you where to park & issue a ticket, you have to present that ticket to get your car out & it costs Bht100 a day.

Once you cross the border do not get taken in by official looking guys trying to get you on a bus to the official bus / taxi terminal. They are a bunch of cons that will talk you into changing money into local currency at a ridiculous rate. They will also charge you $ 48 + for a taxi.

Just walk out of the Cambodian side, ignore the touts & walk towards the square, on your right hand side there are some restaurants,

I always get a taxi there for around $ 25 to $ 27.

Good luck.

PS: Get your Cambodian Visa on the internet , don't get it at the border, another con.

Thanks Rooo, Are you sure the secure parking area is on the right? My neighbor said it's on the left near a casino. How do apply for the visa on the internet and do Thai passport holders need a visa. Thanks again.

ROOO;

thanks for the update,

i have not seen the charged parking and never have gotten a taxi for less than $30 and thats only cause he wanted to get home for dinner :-)

I just leave my car parked anywhere

Thai passport holders get a stamp in for 15 days for FREE, no visa needed unless want to stay more than 15 days

The parking area used to be on the left, this now shops. New one on the right. Re visa, I was talking about a foreigner not a Thai national.

They charged me the first time I was there Bht 1,500.00 per person all up, they get you at the entrance to the border before the car park.

They make it sound like they are Cambodian officials & they take the paperwork to the office / consulate there.

E visa should be US$25.00.
