Mr Ogynist
If I'm handing my hard-earned money over to someone I shall go dressed as I please.Funnily enough despite always turning up in wife-beater and thongs, immigration have yet to decline my money! I wonder why?
Mr Ogynist
hmm.....another quality foreigner in the LOS? Not. Agree with the post. We are guests in this country and should represent ourselves appropriately. Clearly the eponymous 'HeavyDrinker' is doing his best to uphold stereotypes so the rest of need to work harder to counter this. A government building deserves your respect in any country. Sent from my iPhone using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app[/quote No country in the world deseves respect, have a look at the place, and especially not an inate object. <We are guests in this country> ENOUGH ALREADY! A guest does NOT have to PAY to be staying somewhere. Like all the other farang VISITORS, I pay a lot to be here, so please, please stop with the BS. Mr Ogynist
If I go to immigration dressed in a Pith Helmet and Safari Suit,I will certainly be sweating profusely in the 500% humidity of the reclaimed swampland known as Bangkok! Yet I'm told that sweating is a no-no as far as immigration etiquette goes,as everyone knows that Thai people don't sweat, maybe they just pant like dogs? So which is it to be? You betray a remarkable lack of experience in the millinery department. A pith helmet keeps one's head refreshingly shaded. However, when you go to Immigration, I would recommend that you do not take the pith

Last time, I got sick of picking up plastic rubbish. <are there any really clean and fabulous beaches left?> Yes, but few of us can afford to stay on them. Even such mediocre beaches as Haad Khom are being upscaled now that the concrete road has reached it and 24/7 electricity is available. When Burma finally becomes an acceptable tourist destination, and all those undeveloped beaches open up, the only visitors to Thai beaches will be those that can afford 5*. 2 previous answers deleted to allow posting. Whether I pick it up or the hotel picks it up, it doesn't change the fact that the beach is filthy... Thailand has changed, so be it. All gone a bit too fast the last 5 years. Infrastructure needs desperate upgrade. Water treatment, roads, schools, hospitals. I prefer to remember when the beaches were immaculate than revisit and get sad. Good luck. lomatopo
I am an expat and it saddens me to see so many expat & tourists looking like they just woke-up from a three (3) day drunk! Why do so many foreigners present themselves at immigration looking like they just fell out of a trash can? Please..... have some pride in your actions, clothing appearance & personal hygiene to understand that YOU are representing ALL foreigners to the Thai people when you are in country. Yes, I already know that I am speaking to the choir.....duh Why not make your point in person, with the offending parties? Just walk right up to them and tell them what you think. Not sure posting here will have much of an impact.
