school options for learning Thai

Looking for ED Visa school and I plan to go to school so be nice to find one that is quality

1. Anyone have some recommendations but positive and negative

2. Where is the school you are talking about?

Why not a private teacher, I pay TB 10.500 for 30 hours - 15 lessons of 2 hours a week

There are a few in Hua Hin, the one I would recommend is Insight English opposite Villa Market

Friendly owners and staff, private or class lessons are available, max 7 to a class I think

They will also take care of your Ed Visa needs if you require them to

I've been told the best way to learn thai is the same as A child.I'm not sure how true it is.I mean also learning how to read thai as well.I would never be able to write it.English gives me A problem.

1. I cant go totally private teacher cause I like to get an ED visa

2. I have done the ed visa and private at the same time before but gets pricy after a while or an ED private visa which can be really pricy

3. I have heard the child thing as well, children look and ask about everything and your brain is more in tune with language at an earlier age:)

4. I can read and write some thai, not a master by far but can get by my weakness is speaking, i know a lot but need more conversation practice

My old brain has been trying to grasp the nuances of Thai language for 15 years unsuccessfully (and I'm married to a former Thai school teacher) but I've never been good with languages. The foreigners I know who have successfully learned to be conversant in the language insist that you have to start by learning the characters of the Thai alphabet (write and sound), then proceed to learn to read and write the language if you want to learn to speak it fluently. Also, doing it that way could possibly stretch out your education visa as there would be more classes and more to learn.

Thai language center (TLC) is is on Petchkasem Road around 300 yards from Insight English, come out of IE heading towards the traffic lights near the Police Station

I agree with hhfarang, this is exactly what my teacher does as well, I use the same books as my 5 year old son who goes to the Thai school.
