Nurses apologise for photo with slain officer

BANGKOK: -- Three nurses at Naradhiwas Rajanagarindra Hospital yesterday apologised to the public for an inappropriate photograph taken in the hospital's intensive-care unit.

Two of the nurses are seen flashing a "victory" sign in front of the body of Pol Sgt Nimit Deewong, who was killed along with two fellow bomb-squad officers in a blast in Narathiwat on Monday.

After the photo was circulated on social media from Tuesday night, the nurses' action came in for heavy public criticism as being inappropriate, insensitive and unethical.

Hospital director Chatchai Srinamwong confirmed that the photo was taken at the hospital and said an initial probe deemed the nurses' action to have violated the patient's rights. Hence they were guilty of professional misconduct. Insisting that the hospital staff were committed to their work, he said the nurses' action stemmed from a lack of awareness of the situation.

Nurse Patsaroh Rodomasae, whose face was captured, said she had no intention of offending anyone, while nurse Nosira Doloh, whose hand gesture was captured, said they meant no offence but were merely trying to signify that they would "fight" by continuing to work in the region. Another nurse, Norisa Jehlae, who took the photo, said she was sorry and asked for forgiveness.

Wait wait wait. They live in Narattiwat and were not aware of the situation down there? thumbsup.gif

They should lose their licenses.

Wonder what the family of that bomb disposal HERO thinks of this situation?sad.png

And if you look at the muslim head nurse behind her, busy as bee on her dam_n phone, deleting any new LINE uploads she inadvertently uploaded.whistling.gif

Stark contrast between the two head nurses behind this idiot.

Peace Sign? Narathiwat nurses face punishment for shocking tastelessness
By Coconuts Bangkok

nurse.jpg

It’s a common photographic gesture, usually made by young Thai women snapping casual pictures.

However a photo of nurses at Narathiwat Hospital doing that lame two-fingered kawai thing with the corpse of a man many consider a hero, Police Sub-Lt. Nimit Deewong, has drawn an outpouring of fury and condemnation online this afternoon, prompting the hospital to promise swift action against those responsible.

Nimit, a top bomb-disposal expert, was killed along with two other members of his team Monday night by a bomb which detonated while he was attempting to defuse another discovered earlier. Police suspect the first bomb was intended as a decoy to lure the officers to their deaths.

but you also don't know what family/friends she might have lost already, murdered from the army. Only think for Tak Bai and Thaksins remark that they died because they were weak because of the Ramadan.

By taking her licence and not taking any actions at the Tak Bai murders you won't show the muslims that they are equal treated.

The thing is that you can't help believing that she has a beaming smile behind the mask.

What type of person acts like this? Does she have an agenda? Why take this photo? Disgusting, disgusting....

  • Popular Post

Absolutely disgusting individuals. Deserve to be sacked on the spot.

  • Popular Post

Disgusting behaviour.

  • Popular Post

This is just so insensitive. Apology not accepted.

  • Popular Post

Sack them. Right now. Make an example.

They wouldn't want the dead soldier to be a member of my family

or they would get more than sacked, that's for sure. Disgusting.

  • Popular Post

Not aware of the situation..............and they are from the South.

Are they aware of the situation as nurses? God spare anybody from going under their care.

Yet another internet tough guy.

What this nurse did was totally unethical & for sure they will face disciplinary action by the hospital management. No matter her opinions of the Thai security forces we have to remember they are treating wounded Thai security forces every day and potentially putting their lives at risk for retalation by the insurgents

Absolutely, wouldn't want to be wheeled into surgery by them. sad.png

It's not that they should be sacked, but rather they must be sacked.....don't want this scum looking after patients.

proof thai can do nothing wrong

One has to question if they are appropriate people to be treating soldiers? I mean... If that is representative of hospital staff in the muslim dominated south, can we assume that wounded soldiers could be 'walking into a lion's den' by being sent to one of these hospitals?

Turn off the life support machine for a few minutes when nobody is looking... if you know what I mean?

So they MUST be sacked and the Tak Bai soldiers who murdered got promoted.

And than the people in Bangkok ask themself why Southern Muslims want to sepperate from Thailand.

What they did is distgusting, but they did not murder anyone.

Actually the doctor asked for scissors and they were just passing the message to the nurse in charge of equipment.

Dumb nurses.

Thais use this v sign with the fingers all the time - Maybe these nurses are muslim. Thais usually have no sense of what they are flashing the sign to mean. Thais don't generally know how to be themselves for photos so they flash the sign.

Sacking her...

And they would be replaced by whom?

Where will they find someone not brainwashed by some religion or belief?

They are motivated by what they were taught.

Just the tip of the iceberg here...

Better try to sack all religions and systems of beliefs...

Going by the photograph I would assume they are muslim and the moment of has overcome them. Anyway still disgusting regardless of religion and they should be fired and never be allowed to work with the sick and injured again as they obviously find it funny and have a total lack of caring.

What happened to the oath that nurses take. I realise their are a number of different versions but the words are of the same effect.

"I will go into them for the benefit of the sick and will abstain from every voluntary act of mischief and corruption; and further from the seduction of females or males, bond or free".

I'm just curious, why the camera in the first place. How did the photo get on to internet? Where was it shown first? That might answer a lot of other questions about the intent.

Stop talking <deleted>, they are nurses NOT soldiers, or maybe you didn't notice or understand the difference between each?

Probably superseded by another oath I won't mention.

So you are saying it is OK for soldiers to murder prisoners, but some ugly joke must be punished with all force?

And that is the best way to increase understanding between Buddhists and Muslims?

I don't think that she was gloating about the soldier being killed. It's just that a lot of Thais are airheads. I was over in Cambodia last year and we stopped at one of the Khmer Rouge memorials where they have a glass fronted shrine full of skulls. Sure enough, the Thais were queueing up in front of the skulls to make v signs as their friends took photos on mobile phones. Just shallow people.

Thais use this v sign with the fingers all the time - Maybe these nurses are muslim. Thais usually have no sense of what they are flashing the sign to mean. Thais don't generally know how to be themselves for photos so they flash the sign.

Fair enough and the happy smiling faces are what Thais do also as this is the land of smiles. Seems like a storm in a teacup then nothing to do with the fact that there is a poor guy laying behind them dying after being blown up by one of their Muslim brothers. The most important thing was to get the happy snap showing the warm friendly smiling Thais happy in their work.
