Peter Crisp, centre, hands over the shirts to Kamala Police.

PHUKET: Around 100 casual-wear shirts were gifted to Royal Thai Police in Kamala on Friday (November 1), thanks to Peter Crisp at the Aussie Pub in Kamala.

The aim is not for the shirts to replace their formal police uniform, but rather to be worn at social events where they are directing traffic, for example.

The white shirts have ‘Kamala Beach Police’ written on the front, and ‘Police’ on the back.

Peter, the owner of the Aussie Pub, told The Phuket News, “I didn’t do this for brownie points, or to make sure we are protected.

“I thought it was a nice idea for when the guys are a bit more visible, and they can wear them instead of their standard green uniforms. They’re for social wear.”

Not so sure a few t-shirts is enough to curry favour for a farang bar owner. Good effort but try harder next time...

“I didn’t do this for brownie points, or to make sure we are protected."

Uh, yeah you did.

Hope the BIB don't pick up on the unintentional (I think) "brownie" pun, particularly as I see in another thread that one of the Thai nicknames for them is Boy Scouts.

Ahh bless !

Ok i buy coffe and redbull for them sometimes but really

Am I missing something here ?

Totally agree.

For social wear and when they are directing traffic. Somewhat contradictory.

Great Idea! now the motorcycle taxis will have something to wear under their vests.

Except when robbing or beating tourist....cheesy.gif

Check out the guy on the left...'when can I have mine...can I...can I have it now'

It's not an official function. he's just handing a few souveneirs to the boys.

the table is not dressed up either!!!

Guy tries to do a nice thing, instead of slagging the cops, and all of you guys want to crap all over him.

Good on ya, mate, as they say in your country. (?)

well i am sure they are taking the shirt off his back with tea money payments, he thought he would just go one up on them

It's going to be lot easier to impersonate a police officer with all these shirts floating around.
