More bad weather, storms, rain expected for Thailand Nov 15-16

"Tropical Depression in South China Sea"

No. 7 Time Issued : November 14, 2013

BANGKOK: -- At 05.00 p.m. on 14 November, the tropical depression in the lower South China Sea was centered about 750 kilometers east of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam or at latitude 12.0 degree north and longitude 113.5 degree east with maximum sustained winds about 55 km/hr. The depression was moving west at speed 20 km/hr.

It is forecast to move across southern Vietnam, Cambodia and cover the East and the upper South of Thailand during 15-17 November. More rain and isolated heavy rain are expected in the lower Northeast, the East, the Central and the upper South. The stronger wind wave 2-3 meters high is likely in the upper Gulf of Thailand.

The advisory will be effect on 14 November 2013 at 05.00 p.m.

9 provinces told to brace for heavy rains

BANGKOK, 14 November 2013 (NNT) - The Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department has warned residents in the South and East to brace for heavy rains and landslides during the next three days.


The department said a strong depression is expected to cover parts of the East and the upper South during November 15-17. Nine provinces at risk include Chonburi, Rayong, Surat Thani and Nakhon Si Thammarat.

The depression is expected to trigger widespread flooding and landslides. Strong winds will also create up to 3 meter high waves in the South and small boats should be kept ashore during this period.

Residents are urged to closely follow weather updates and those affected can contact the DDPM hotline at 1784 around the clock.

No. 9 Time Issued : November 15, 2013

At 04.00 a.m. on 15 November, the tropical depression in the lower South China Sea which upgrade to tropical storm and lay centered about 300 kilometers east of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam or at latitude 12.0 degree north and longitude 110.0 degree east with maximum sustained winds about 65 km/hr. The storm was moving west at speed 20 km/hr.

It is forecast to move across southern Vietnam in the morning today and downgrade with move pass Cambodia and cover the East, the Gulf and the upper South of Thailand during 16-17 November.

More rain and isolated heavy rain are expected in the lower Northeast, the East, the Central and the upper South, the areas include Rayong, Chanthaburi, Trat, Ratchaburi, Phetchaburi and Prachuap Khiri Khan. The stronger wind wave 2-3 meters high is likely in the upper Gulf of Thailand. Small ships keep ashore during the period.

The advisory will be effect on 15 November 2013 at 05.00 a.m.

10th floor of my Condo in East Pattaya right now 9:45am am getting very strong winds comming in. Better get out and do some shopping before it hits. No rain clouds etc in sight, just strong winds.

On the 12th floor of my condo central Pattaya no winds and hardly any cloud I am facing Pattaya bay maybe the winds are from the east.

Looks like we in Lower Isaan are going to be spared the worst as the main part of the storm has its northern border tracking along the Thai/Cambodian border. Light rain here started an hour ago in lower Sisaket - as predicted by the satellite weather map

I didn't find any promising reports :(

According to weather reports it says 2,8mm rain and 4-8 meter per second winds (up to 28 km/h) from 6-12 AM tomorrow (when I arrive at BKK). The winds though will last at least until Saturday next week. Hmm...
