Interesting massage shop economics

Most if not all General Hospital in Thai have a massage clinic you can go to. For a very small fee you can have a proper Thai massage. I have many friends (Thai and Farang) who do this at least 2-times a month. Seems to me that local 'stores' are in it for the money, whereas the hospitals already get paid and so are not of the same frame of mind.

I'm a bit tired of the underlying assumption that ALL Thai massage shops probably will give you a happy ending ! What BS!

You have a point. The shops where everyone is in one room with mattresses next to each other and no curtains will probably not do it, because everyone can see what they are doing. However, in more than two decades of getting massages in Thailand, I have never had a young lady (or an old one) NOT approach me for "extras" if the massage is in a private space - even if it is just a flimsy curtain blocking the view.

I have a bad back and a gimpy knee, both of which, after a massage, have no pain for about a week.

Naturally, I get a massage about every 5-7 days.

However, I too have noticed that shops which once offered only traditional massage now offer extras - hand, oral, and more.

Just a few years back, all such shops had pants for customers to wear. Recently, about half have foregone the expense of pants and even for the 'Traditional Thai Massage' the customer is nude.

This harkens back to 40+ years ago, when all massage shops provided a bath, massage and happy ending. In those days, I visited many a shop and the process was nearly identical; Bath first, then on the table for a good, thorough massage and the happy ending was always given, without request.

The local hospital does do massage but the staff get too picky about who gets to massage the farang clawing after tips. IMHO

Once you have become used to stronger women giving massage move up to getting a massage from a stronger Thai man, that is a real work out - none of this soft passing tourist level back-rub and "oil" massage.

I think it's the measure of someone that is experienced in this area that moves beyond only seeking massage from someone of the opposite gender.

Cheap jokes about happy endings etc surface only in the minds and keyboards of Pattaya Soi Scum, so post away and reveal the level to which you have reached in Thai understanding.

I think it does reflect the way tourism is going, to answer the original question from the OP. I go for a massage to different places depending if I'm alone or, with my GF. Alone, say no more, with my GF, we go to a very nice clean place near Pattaya Klang. Last time though, even though my GF is next door (curtain between) the lady seemed intent on making me stand, almost a challenge, then with a big grin on her face, grabbed hold of my c*ck, and peeked round the curtain as my GF lay being massaged. Not be going there again. Not with my GF anyway wai2.gif

I'm a bit tired of the underlying assumption that ALL Thai massage shops probably will give you a happy ending ! What BS! My wife and a few of her friends all trained at one of the 5 or 6 places in Thailand that teach their students therapeutic massage that looks more like a combination of acupressure, physio, and chiropractic. They've all been massaging both here and O/S for many years. The style of massage is very strong and there is absolutely no way you would get even remotely excited. Incidentally one of them in Bangkok has relatively few but well off customers. She charges them 20,000 baht for a course of sessions over a few months. Smart plan.

Good post. I visit a massage spa in Soi Ekkamai. Several of the ladies there really know how to massage therapeutically. On my first visit the lady correctly found all of my old sports injuries. I had a VERY bad lingering shoulder injury from over training which had troubled for literally years. She spotted it and treated it - believe me it was very painful but since then, no problems. Physios had tried less successfully in the past in UK and UAE. They always ask "you want hard, soft medium" - I go for medium and don't think I could stand the hard! There is no way with this type of massage that someone is going to feel aroused. You need the tea and biscuit afterwards to recover !

Can you tell the name of this massage place please? crying.gif I would love a massage like that.

I don't know if this related but the local bar that i have frequented for the last 3 years has recently had a vast influx of girls offering their ( services). Whereas only up to a few weeks ago, it was maybe 2-3 per week, now it's around ten per night.

Sent from my Android, using 2 tin cans and a piece of string.

I think that if truth be told tourism is way down this year AND the economy is hurting for various reasons (internal and external). Some of these types of observations could be resulting.

Loy Katung is the beginning of high season and getting generous customers is a lot easier from now till March. The influx of new girls happens every year.
