Close call: The two buses after the shunt.

PHUKET: -- One tour bus banged into the back of another at about 6:30 yesterday evening (November 20) about a kilometre north of the top end of the bypass road, after the driver of the leading bus slammed on the brakes to avoid piling into two cars that had been involved in an accident moments before.

Suwat Huameun, 31, the driver of the second bus, owned by Vision Transport Co, told The Phuket News, “The two cars were chasing each other, and finally one rammed the other from behind.

“They stopped and both drivers got out of their cars. The driver of the car in front was a foreigner, and the one who hit him was Thai.

“They both drove away after they saw that they had caused a problem.”

Somboon Baannob, 35, the driver of the first bus, contracted to tour company Pegas, told The Phuket News, “I was driving behind them, so I hit the brakes hard, which caused the other bus to bump into me from behind.”

Neither bus was carrying passengers at the time, and no one was hurt, but the crash caused traffic to pile up for a while.

Even if there was an accident ahead, it was not the car drivers fault. Bus drivers too close to each other, not driving at a reasonable speed, their fault I would assume. maybe think they are "drafting" like in stock car racing?

Drafting? You mean Drifting? I could go for a draft beer right about now. But this is no shock to me seeing the name Pegus involved

Caused a terrible traffic jam. Took my wife a loooong time to drive back from the airport. I had a good laugh when she told me it was a Pegus bus crashed into another Pegus bus.

Compassion with others misfortune is often a good alternative to laughter. Glad no one was injured.

I got his drift after reading his post. Now go have that draft so you don't go daft after a day without one.

I think it's called drafting, as using the vehicle in front to cut through the air and leave a draft behind. Drifting is a side slide.
