About a week ago my HP Pc stopped working. It happened right after the housekeeper vacuumed the vents on the side, nor sure if related as the PC is about 3 years old. I bought it in the USA and all my software incliding windows 7 pro is all legit.

When I turn it on a message comes up saying close immeadietly to protect CPU , then the machine shuts down. I do not hear a fan going in the few seconds that it is on for?

Im going to Pantip today to get it looked at. Any suggestions where I can take it that will give me a real diagnosis and not set it so its all in thai when I get it back? I would also like to swap out a couple of USB slots from 2's to 3's.

Thanks for any suggestions on what the problem may be and where to take it to get fixed.

Did you check if the cooling fan/s cable/s have got loosened or disconnected?

Try taking them out and plugging them in again.

(Make sure to disconnect PC from the power)

Ravip,

Thanks I already had it packed up and was interested in adding usb 3.0 so went to pantip. Went to the first small little kiosk shop I saw on the thirf floor toward the back "poo repair" I think? We pulled the case off and it was the cpu fan that wae not working. The connections were fine but there was a wad of duet in the fan, probably from when maid vacumed the vents? He cleaned it up and blew the whole thing clean as a whistle and the fan started working. I grabbed a usd 4 port from the shop across from his but it did not fit as I have a slim box. He shop across refunded no problem and I packed it up and left. He charged 100 baht. Walked around and found a 3.0 2 port usb that had a slim adapter in the box. Went back to his shop and he changed the usb to the short brace but it did not fit right a way. Finally removed the little buffer piece of metal around the slot and it fit perfectly. Changing to the short bracket and placing it took another 20 minutes like the cleaning did. When we tested it and it all worked perfectly I packed it up and asked how much? He said no charge no problem. I thanked him and gave him another 100 baht that he did not want to accept and I headed home. The whole thing was pretty painless. Thanks for your tip, you were on the money with tightening the connections and a good cleaning.
