BANGKOK, Nov 25 – Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra says the door for negotiation is open for all factions and is calling on the Thai people to unite, respect the rule of law and turn to respect each other.

“In my capacity as an elected prime minister, I will strictly abide by the rule (of law). I’m willing to listen to every voice in society to jointly find a resolution for the nation,” she says on her Facebook page.

“I call for unity, reconciliation, peace and respect (for) the rule of law. There should not be conflicts that result in violence and deaths.

“Peaceful demonstration without weapons or violation of the law is allowed under the Constitution as long as it does not infringe on other people. The government has instructed police and related authorities to maintain public order and handle demonstrators with leniency under universal standard.

“The demonstrators should not be used as a tool for those who want to see changes against the democratic system.”

Ms Yingluck says she believes the country will not reach a dead-end as long as the constitutional monarchy is followed and all factions talk to each other with reason and avoid confrontation.

A scrutiny of the government through the no-confidence debate is approaching in the next few days, she adds and calls on Thai people to help protect the nation, religion and monarchy. (MCOT online news)

If she is willing to listen then please listen. The people have been speaking for weeks now. And the common thread is they want her and her brother gone and never to return.

SOME people, certainly NOT the majority...! ;-} rap.

Why does she continue to call for "reconcilliation" at this time? When it has be shown by public outcry and pressure that it is not wanted. And that such a call is indeed the reason why we see the country splintering more and more everyday.

How can she preach about protesters being used as tools for change when her brother engineered a campaign paying protester to be used as political tool for him [ resulty in a lot of thier deaths] in 2010 ?

And how dare she rant on about laws under the constitution when members of her party want to take the contitutional court to court ??blink.png

Agree. The height of hypocrisy, decption, dishonesty and duplicity. What a shameful display of an unethical person.

A bit late for that. Why didn't she listen before?

Why weren't the opposition allowed to speak in parliament?

Also we have seen time and time again how she has avoided responsibility and lied her way out.

Does anyone trust her now?

Specially as they sue Suthep and others at the same time.

So she tells she will strictly abide by the rule of law but at the same time don't accept one of the highest courts.

Lying all the time like her brother....

Seems like a complete change of tune, as compared to the last time the red-rabble were on the streets

How about you call an election and see what the masses say!

That's exactly what Suthep and his ilk don't want because they know the result may not suit them.Read his words carefully.

So why doesn't PT do what the Dems don't want and call an election?

You may well be surprised, considering more voted against the PTP than for in the last election and there now seems to have been a dramatic swing away from the fugitive and his brown-nosing rabble.

But of course with the red blinkers on you really can't see much can you?

Right thumbsup.gif And it sure seems to be that the majority of protesters protesting in BKK at the moment are certainly not pro government. Jutaporn and his small following of pro government protesters are indeed " The Minority ".

Wow, she can lie with a straight face. She's learning well from her brother.

Not true! She is writing the words handed down from her brother in order to save his sorry ass. I'm sure she'd rather be off out of the country on yet another jaunt as all this is making her head go all swimmy laugh.png

PM calls for peace, unity and respecting rules of law

BANGKOK: -- Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra today called for unity, peace, and respecting rules of law as anti-government protests intensifying, saying her government did not want to see escalating conflict turning into bloodshed in the country.

The prime minister said on her Facebook today that the ruling of the Constitutional Court on an amendment to the Constitution regarding the composition of the Senate and ensuing protests with no solution on sight yet has been a concern for her.

She said that as she is a prime minister who came from election, she was willing to listen to all voices of the people and keep all the rules so as to find out a common solution.

She said she trusted her Thai citizenship likes all other Thais who have love towards their country, their religion and their monarchy and did not want to see escalating conflicts exploding into bloodshed

Peaceful protests without weapons and abiding by laws are accepted by the Constitution as long as they did not violate the right and freedom of others, she said and added that her government has instructed the police and all relevant government agencies to maintain peace and order and adopt international standards to handle the protest step-by-step with lenience.

She said she did not want to see protesters being exploited as tools of those who wanted to make change through undemocratic means, and not to fall victims to “third-hands” to incite violence to achieve the illegitimate change.

She said she believed the country would not be cornered if all movements sticking to the constitutional monarchy rule and facing each other with reasons, open minds and peaceful talks for the survival of the country.

She said that as the no-confidence debate against her government would be held within the next few days, she would like all sides united for the sake of peace and order, and to uphold their beloved country, religion and monarchy.

It's a risk for them too as their support has definitely been falling. But they would still probably win and the opposition know that. However even with a PTP win (probably much narrower than last time) precisely nothing would have been solved.Meanwhile the clock is ticking and the opposition is acutely aware of its nightmare scenario looming.Hence the increaseingly shrill rhetoric about the evils of "majoritarianism" and democracy itself.

I believe you missed a word in the last line of your post. It should have been "and red democracy itself".
