Thanks for sharing this, I think I will take my family there on Sunday and have a look.

Do you know which time the race starts, I intend to go in the afternoon?

The days start around 09:00 usually, then run through until about 18:00

After watching that video,I've noticed in the first part some 'class' Isuzu trucks racing, but didn't see any smoke like in the last clip pickup racing...different engines,or...??

Of course the track in the first video is not Bira though. If this comes up here's a few laps of Bira the first and last race I ran there in a VW Bug, it was good fun and had good potential but had a few issues. Had quite a steep learning curve, hadn't raced the track before, the car, only my second right drive car race ever and first race in more than 7 years at that point, didn't know the other competitors and the car wasn't set up correctly at all.

The crew was a bit inexperienced but willing to learn and did a great job for me that weekend, after only a total of approximately 20 laps of practice and race from Friday into Sunday. This was my only my second standing start, the first being 7 years earlier in Sri Lanka.

I managed to go from about 30 seconds off the pace on Friday, working with my crew on the cars set up to within 2 seconds of the top and track record and 2 top 5 finishes, 4th on Saturday and 5th on Sunday as the 4th in the Saturday qualifying race actually put me a bit further back in starting for Sunday in 9th overall.

On Saturday at the start of the race the shifter spun on it's shaft during up shifting causing a late shift at the start as my hand slipped off it so I had to fight back 2 positions that were lost. Sunday in this video, once the shift knob was remedied the result was much different as you can see I took about 5 cars at the start to end up right on the back bumper of the 3rd place VW (haven't viewed this recently I'm going by memory at the mo). I dropped back as I had the car set up for a longer run and by races end I was the fastest VW on the track and making up ground quickly but ran out of time, track inexperience on that one, but again showed real promise all around.

I was very happy with the result for all of the learning curve involved and then the full truth came out by the team. It turns out while I was running on full treaded, hard compound street tires, all the other VW's in my class were running on soft compound Nitto's which I was told were worth 7 seconds a lap. I question THAT much time difference but if even half of that is true and there were a lot of other adjustments still to be made on the car then the projected time would have made us dominant against cars with much more HP and well over the track record for that class with only 2 seconds needed to be the front runner.

This vid took forever to upload up so I hope it's available soon it was in queue at the time of this posting. It's raw video and hasn't been edited so there is some unnecessary wait time for action.

Ok, I specifically did that already don't know why it changed? Try again, this is a Nitto 3K weekend btw, although a few years ago.

Thank you for posting it, yesterday was a nice day at the track, looked like everyone was really trying hard, the one class race to match the TV slot in the middle of the day delayed a few of the afternoons races, but thats i guess what pays some of the bills.
