When will Thailand have voice messaging ?

You said you'd prefer voice messaging, which you can do with an app.

You can even send video messages now.

The advantage of an app for texting is that if all of your friends have it you don't have to pay for the SMS's.

Why get an app for texting when we can directly text?

App like LINE, wechat, whatsapp allow the users to send a large and unlimited volume of text and voice messaging by using data. It's also a cheaper means of communication compare to conventional method of texting such as SMS and voice call.

What is your cost per mo. For the package? Now I buy minutes. Don't know if it's worth it since I don't call much to begin with.

I think most pre-paid and post-paid mobile service providers here offer free voice-mail; you may have to request it and they may charge a flat-fee to access it. I know I've had it on various AIS/One-2-Call, DTAC/Happy and TrueMove H accounts for over 10 years.

My guess is that voice-mail is not really popular with Thais - maybe because they are not used to it or have not been introduced to it - so they have not set it up, and most utilize missed-call alerts to ring back.
