Seems I am the only one who thinks it looks awful.

No.

Wait till he gets it all scratched up when he goes 4 wheel drivin in it...if he ever does.

Would love to be behind him when he goes into the first shopping mall car park with it...cheesy.gif

Swap the camo for tartan & you've got one great ride for the Bay City Rollers smile.png

For those who don't know who the Bay City Rollers were......

Scottish pop band from the 70s that all the teenage lasses went wild for.

In the spirit of Christmas ... I'll be nice.

Two questions

Considering that it's a 4WD, you've spent a shiteload on customisation ... in your suburban jungle, where would you use it?

How can you justify the expense?

Surely you haven't bought the car and did the mods in case there is another once in 50 year flood in Bangkok? If it is for the floods ... raised exhaust outlet?

No offence mate but you sound like a wife.

... and none taken.

I just reckon it's fugly.

But, I don't for a second, diss his right to spend his hard earned coin on the project.

... and I'm not a back seat driver to anyone's dreams etc.

What I don't understand is the 'Logic' of of it.

... hence that's why I asked the OP ...

If it is for the floods ... raised exhaust outlet?

He's gone to great lengths to fit the beast out with Cooper Tyers ... long life off road tyres ... but not the best suit for the sealed road.

He's declined to reply ... up to him.

He doesn't owe me an explanation ... I'm just trying to understand his thinking.

Very little logic goes into a mod like this, it is more about what makes your boat float, I would definitely be concerned about blind spots in the city though as well as most other places with all the motocy's around.. OP please tell me the wife doesn't drive this truck though? unsure.png

This...

It's your truck enjoy your mods, there are way too many Grinchs here who love to take a poke.. I do see issues though, be very careful to make sure that bump under your tires is really a speed bump, climbing in and out, parking garages, small parking spaces, so on..

Sure you realise if you post something/topic then you must accept opinions. You think it looks great and l think you might have thought all the readers would.

PS. Be careful round those bends eh.....whistling.gif ...........smile.png

There is some truth to this but a bit of diplomacy is always a nice approach and then the piling on is really off putting to many. I've always been of a mind that there is always something nice to say so say it first and it makes the rest a bit more palatable, there is also limits on how much criticism one can met out before it becomes tedious, demeaning and tasteless..

OP thanks for sharing... Enjoy your truck, just be careful, Thai's have enough issues driving safely around the common cars there..

Yep….each to their own and good on you for going your own way.

Wrapping the truck (whatever style) is a smart move. Also had my done and about a week later a motorcycle scrapped his handle bar down the side. No damage to paint. Also good for protection against elements and stone chips.

I am not interested in doing it my self, but, handling wise at higher speed with it raised, how does it go?

Probably quite unstable in bends at speed. I guess however that driving at high speed was not the goal of the transformation. True 4WD would require something similar. However, as it is, it would probably never enter many parkings.

As to the color and decoration... Well... Better pass. cheesy.gif

I have never been sure if it was legal here to drive a lifted car. Is it?

I wonder what the insurance company would say if the OP has a prang.................whistling.gif

To the OP ... respect to you ... you've responded to the above posts with aplomb ... thumbsup.gif

But, I would recommend to take transam's comment seriously and, it would be a real shame to have spent all that coin, be involved in an accident where you have to claim insurance (whether your fault or not ... we all know how that works over here) and discover that the insurance won't cover your Mods ... or worse, because of them, won't cover the accident.

Last word from me ... for a while.

What I didn't mention before was that I used to be a Motorcycle Courier. When you ride a bike, and probably also when I drive a car, I try and drive 2 or 3 cars ahead ... not just the brake lights of the car or bike directly in front of me.

With a 'normal' (not ride height adjusted) pick-up, you can usually see through an unladen rear window/windscreen and see the vehicle in front of the pick-up in front of you.

With your risen height ... I'd be no chance.

Plus, when I live in Thailand, I live on a Fish Farm, thus a practical bloke, hence my earlier post that I just didn't see the vehicle as 'practical'. But the point made well earlier is that it's a dream car ... and dreams sometimes aren't 'practical'.

But I tell you that the owner of this truck below laden with probably 3 tonne of Fish, Ice and Water trying to traverse the Farm track just after a afternoon's storm has hit ... would have loved to own your truck ... with all it's mods, 4WD and Cooper tyres ... 100% sure!

OP, did you ask or inform your insurance company about your rather serious suspension mods whistling.gif . If so what did they say.?

As you know in farangland your insurance would be worthless unless they were told and assessed the risk for possible refusal, increased premium, or a specialised insurer had to be used.

Also if it is a new truck...with toyota warranty....then thats likely dodgy also.

Yep, for sure.

For my own curiosity I made inquires regarding insurance regarding the OP's ride.

The vehicle must be taken to the registration office and the modification must be entered into the Blue book.

A copy of the amended page in the Blue book along with photos of the modified ride must be sent to the insurance broker for them to discuss the modifications with the insurance company to perhaps adjust the premium or cancel the policy if the risk factor is not accepted.

Better safe than sorry with insurance here eh. sad.png

That sort of brings up another interesting question. I know if you change your car's color you have to go register it, I wonder if wrapping requires that too? Might be multiple problems here, height mods plus wrapping?

I bought my first car in Thailand earlier this year, about 4 or 5 months ago.

When we took it to the Rego office, they refused to transfer the ownership till the colour was changed.

I don't have a good photo of it ... but you can see what they complained about.

post-104736-0-91079300-1386572177_thumb.

They said it was now 2 tone ... and that the description had to be changed.

Now ... this is not me sitting in front of the Transfer office lady ... but the gf's Thai old man.

Those strips are that stick-on imitation Kevlar stuff ... could be pulled off in 10 minutes ... but the Lady wasn't having any of it ... no way ... the colour was 2 tone.

Your truck is pretty cool.

How is it cool ? I'm not having a go, I just want to understand the mentality. For example, why the huge 4x4 graphics on the sides ?? I probably thought that was cool when I was 5 years old...
