webfact
Suthep rejects House dissolutionBANGKOK: -- Anti-Thaksin leader Suthep Thaugsuban this morning rejected the prime minister’s House dissolution and holding of general election saying she must hand over power to the people to form a people’s council to appoint outsiders to be a caretaker government.Suthep, secretary-general of the People’s Committee for Democratic Reform (PCDR), said after hearing the announcement of the dissolution of the House of Representatives by Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra on a live TV Pool broadcast, that the dissolution of the House and the general election would only bring back the old regime to rule the country again. He said this was not a solution to the country’s deep-rooted problems of election frauds and corruption. He said the PCDR wanted the prime minister to return the power to the mass represented by the PCDR , paving the way to the formation of a people’s council to appoint an interim government from outsiders to rule the country and supervise clean election.Suthep said this would ensure that the Thaksin regime would never return to power in this country.Suthep this morning led several thousands of demonstrators to Government House from the Government Complex.Demonstrators from eight other locations in the capital, namely, Democracy Monument, Narng Lerng, Silom, Asoke, Victory Monument, also started moving out along all streets leading to Government House.’The People’s Network for the Overthrow of Thaksin Regime also rejected the prime minister’s House dissolution. They said they wanted the prime minister to leave the country so that the People’s Council could appoint a caretaker government to supervise electionAt 11.00 a.m. today over ten thousand demonstrators have arrived and surrounded the Government House.Source: http://englishnews.thaipbs.or.th/suthep-rejects-house-dissolution/-- Thai PBS 2013-12-

Popular Post Totster
This guy is such a plank. :-) My thoughts exactly.. He knows that an election will bring back the current government - but then it's what the people of Thailand want. Sooner or later they will have to accept that democracy means that who wins an election is the chosen person to lead, regardless of whether they agree or not. All of those who scream vote buying.. don't be so naive to think that it's just one party doing it.. we got the same amount from all candidates last time totster

People who talk about vote buying really dont get it. It's actually the only time when I can see the people getting one over on the politicians...... :-) They accept little brown envelopes from ALL the parties (yes - ALL of them!) and then they can still decide who to vote for in a secret ballot. Sounds like the people in Isaan are not that stupid at all :-)

Popular Post ginjag
Last time they had a landslide 48% ha ha ha------------they formed then a government by promises to get others to join them with rewards from the TROUGH. With having 48% last time how much this next time around ???? 30% if lucky, without other grovelers to join to make up a majority--they are nothing really, you see they thrive on MONEY and these other small parties are the same as a load of Issan people, Thais side with the powerful, like the street kids when fighting a mob brings down a lone farang, very rare a clean 1 to 1. Thais are insecure people -money/power/elders can rule them. only a few like these opposition notables started the ball rolling-alone Thais are negative. jpeg
Just look at what most of my posts are about... they certainly not here in the news section. I like many others have seen loads of new posters come out of the woodwork supporting Mr T. This is all they do.. its just strange. Of course I could be wrong but I would bet my life on it that there are more then a few paid to post guys around here. Not saying this guy is one of those for sure. Just like 2010 then. Whatever happened to MCsquared? And where's Slater'sparrot et al gone?

Popular Post Ricardo
Bangkok Bob has spoken! "Tanks, I see no tanks !" Which is a good thing, of course. I suspect that shortly, Suthep will be looking round, saying "Supporters, I see no supporters" too ! Which doesn't mean that he doesn't have a point, and PTP as well, there does need to be some forum for discussing & proposing Constitutional-reform, to be followed by a mandatory national-referendum on it, no more late-night-session ramming-through of controversial measures. Personally I'd welcome anything which prevents the establishment of political-dynasties, or strengthens checks-and-balances, or increases punishment for political-corruption. But Suthep's current idea just isn't it.

stickyrice2000
Corruption will always exist no matter who is in charge. Instead of protesting and demanding their ways of managing the country, finding a solution for a better check and balance system and protecting The Constitutions from being amended to particular individual's favor would be more the ideal. Personally, I view it as a battle for power.

Actually in Sutheps speech he says the rice scheme is vote buying because it gave the poor farmers double the price for the rice, he also said the minimum wage increase was vote buying as well, goes to show what this is really all about. The rich elite and the military don't want to see any of these peoples lives improve as they have labeled these policies as vote buying. Put all the BS, lies, propaganda, corruption etc. etc. aside the bottom line to this struggle has always been the rich elite partnered with the military against the poor undeclassed or working class who have the majority. it just baffles me how many farangs that post here want the poor to stay poor, remain uneducated and not have the same opportunities to improve the quality of life!

It would help a lot.. a strong independent anti corruption agency with power and without bias.

I dont remember during Democrats ruling that corruption was less than now . It was, and a lot less. But that is not the point. The point is that Mark & Korn et al, do not buy vote from poor red rice farmers. Edited December 9, 2013 by Spare
Popular Post gerrythepoet
A chameleon does not change its spots. I am just keeping my fingers crossed that they do not do something as so stupid as to hold up the airport. If this moron does then please let the army move the troops and do their job. The house is dissolved. However this chess game has been played the fact remains the pawns are expendable and being at the front just means your lives go first. Admittedly the true hard core yellow shirts are pulling the strings and other disaffected groups have got onto the bandwagon but in essence it is still the same players. Nothing has changed except the outfits are more outrageous and the speeches have diarrhea written all over them
