Army sees easing of tensions following dissolution

The Nation

BANGKOK: -- The Army on Monday described the ongoing political situation as easing following PM's announcement of House dissolution and expected it to improve, deputy army spokesman Lt Col Winthai Suvaree said.

The developments had satisfied all sides to a greater or lesser degree, Winthai said, adding that it was expected that every party would cooperate and work together.

"The Army wishes to reaffirm its position under the current political situation that it is ready to take care of the country and all groups of people, no matter they are ordinary people or protesters, so that they are safe. It is ready to help building peace and order in the country as well as to support unity among the people," the spokesman said.

Although there are many differences of opinions between the opposing sides, the Army believes that they would be able to find solution using peaceful means. "The Army do not want to see the situation escalating to violence because all of them are Thais. We want all sides to consider the results that fighting could bring to the country," Winthai said.

Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra earlier announced House dissolution as tens of thousands of the antigovernment protesters took to the streets to protest against her government and the Thaksin Regime.

BANGKOK, 9 December 2013 (NNT) - Deputy Spokesperson of the Royal Thai Army Colonel Winthai Suwaree has affirmed the Army’s readiness to maintain peace and safety for all Thai citizens, regardless of their political preferences.

The deputy spokesperson disclosed there should be a common peaceful solution for all, despite their differences in political viewpoints. He added that he personally does not want to see violence among Thais, urging all sides to think of the nation's benefits first.

Col Winthai also stated that the political situation had eased up to a certain degree at the moment, while hoping that the trend would continue to the level of acceptance by the majority. He also encouraged all to strictly abide by the rule of law.

He confirmed that the Army would do whatever it takes for the benefit of the Thai people.

Well, we already know house dissolution IS NOT what SUTHEP and his power/ money mad cronies want, (U.D.D.. ha!!!).. as he's already stated, just as neither is any kind of real 'DEMOCRACY' (unless they can be guaranteed a win of course - which ain't going to happen, anyway!!!).. hence, better Yingluck takes this step and pulls the rug from under his feet so that he can't hide behind even his own twisted rhetoric any more!!! Let the country decide!!! F* that the Yellow leaders don't even trust 'their own' people to vote for them.. stop being such c***s, then!!!
