Addonvalue
My friend went in to Imm. on Sept 11. to get his approved marriage visa stamp. So he started counting 90 days from then, thinking that Sept 11 was the start of the reporting period as it was the start of his new visa. So he braved the mobs and went in promptly on Dec 11, only to be told that he was FIVE months late (since he came in to Thailand again on July 31) and would have to arrange for a special meeting with the officers in charge because of this. Any advice? Anyone know what the fines are? I heard that you can't be fined more than 2000 if at Immo. office and 5,000 baht if at airport. Can he still get a re-entry visa if he has this problem? Another friend who was late a few times has always just gone out of the country and returned with no problems. Wd appreciate any advice.
ubonjoe
About all he can do is pay the 2000 baht fine. Only the 1st extension counts as as a report. The 5000 baht is the maximum fine. Getting caught for not reporting is a 4000 baht fine.
2old4bs
You really must find some "friends" who respect, and abide by, the Thai Immigration laws....
ubonjoe
Sit in front of the Immi officer. When he asks you for 2,000 baht, put your head in your hands and start to weep. He'll ask you why. Tell him you haven't got 2,000. He'll ask you how much you've got. Pull some old screwed up notes out of your pocket and count up to 520 baht (or thereabouts) then rummage in your pockets for some more baht but without luck. He'll take what you've got.....(usually). Never happen.
