@oTwoPies..

Experiment A) Tot router , Tenda close to each other , 2 notebooks one Acer ,one Toshiba and use Xirrus

Acer reading...Tot -41, Tenda -50 , Toshiba reading Tot -38 ,-46.

Speed Checkings : 1st ToT, 8.2 Mb , Tenda 8.1Mb 2nd Tot 6.95 Tenda 6.95 3rd Tot 7.36 Tenda 7.35 and it was more or less the same for the 2 notebooks.

Experiment B) used a Samsung Galaxy and Wifi Analyser I found the usual Tenda spot was -85 so I moved around upstairs and found a spot thats =75 and position the Tenda there and guess what .. I actually got 1.98 Mb .

Well thats the temporary solution for me !!!!

Thanks.

Sorry I have no direct experience of Powerline routers. A friend here has used them with success but I am not sure of the brand or even if that brand is available in Thailand.

Maybe we can draw the conclusion from Honkies tests the Tenda WISP repeater mode speed is dependent on the Tenda received signal strength. Interesting.

The 2Mb/s speed is both a useful improvement over the initial 0.5Mb/s and more than adequate for browsing and reading emails.

When I am fit enough to test my Tenda setup I will update this post if I have any further information that may be useful to the readers.
