Ford Fiesta Judder at low speeds

Featured Replies

Hi all, I feel a 'judder' pulling away at low speed lately (but not every time) so took the car into Ford today to be told it's a common problem and they have to order a new part..maybe take 2 weeks then have to leave the car there for 2 days to fit it.

I was a bit surprised as I thought it may simply be a software problem and 2 days to fit the part seems excessive to me. Everyone was pretty vague as to what the new 'part' is..any ideas? and is this problem (gearbox?) serious and as common as they said ?

There's a thread on it. Look down the motor section topics. Should be within a few pages.

I took our Ford Fiesta to the dealer in Phuket exactly 2 months ago with the same problem. I was told it would take a week to fix so i insisted that they give me a courtesy car whilst the repair was done.

They said that they had only one car and would be put on the list, I'm still waiting. I will never buy a Ford in Thailand again. The after sales service is disgusting.

Does something like 'courtesy car' exist here...I've had a Toyota ones out for a few days repair, they wouldn't know what it is....

... I drive a new Ranger now and never had a problem wit h the service yet.

Luxury brands like BMW and Benz generally have courtesy cars available, but with mainstream brands it's not part of the franchise requirement, so up to the dealer. You certainly won't find any clause in your warranty contract entitling you to a courtesy car, so it would have to be supplied solely at the dealer's own expense.

In short, it's not a reasonable expectation, as it's never been promised.

Is it manual or automatic ?

??...The Ranger is 6 speed automatic...

I thought so..tongue.png ...from my understanding the problem is with auto transmissions..smile.png

I don't know maybe it's just me but most of the time when I have a problem or some issue with anything in Thailand, be that a car, bike, phone whatever..they either say: it's a common problem sir, don't worry. Or it's normal, no worries.

Who would buy a manual when a auto will change faster unless it's Warp speed driving.

For sure I would never own a manual smile.png , in any country, but especially in LOS. whistling.gif

I was always given a courtesy car with Honda when is was a fault of theirs.

As this is not a 2 day repair ( so they tell me) and as it's a fault with the Fiesta and Focus ( so they tell me) it seems fair that they give me a courtesy car (as they do have one).

As the topic is about "Fords" I thought i'd share my opinion of them.

The dealer in Phuket is hopeless in general, and the car is a big disappointment.

So Honda have fault's what a surprise. Is there any car maker that has no fault's.

No.

I have it on good authority that the Wiggett factory is falling behind in production since Ford started sourcing parts from there.

The COO is recommending a 3rd shift to help get production back on track.

Could it be the clutch or engine mountings?

I think you're spot on Desmond, thx to Arthurwait pointing me to a previous thread on this subject and a great post by Sjonburi with this info: http://www.fordservi...tsb13-09-04.pdf

All sounds a bit serious now as they talk about removing the whole clutch and possible contamination??
