“All you need is a farang husband and their government will pay you to study,” he said.

Even more controversially, he then implied that the best way to study a foreign language was by sleeping with a foreigner.

“Sitting studying is too slow. Lie down to study, then go to the hospital. They will pay you to have the baby… It’s all free, right up to the shitty diapers.”

Thaksin probably figured, "If it works for the world's biggest economy, it should work for Thailand also." They've been in over their heads for over a year, but the program will continue. Why? Though it reminds me of meeting with the deputy governor in my Thai province. I had some questions about visa (in the days before Thaivisa existed). Every time he opened his mouth he asked,"you have Thai wife?" He asked me that exact Q about 8 times. After saying 'no' seven times, I asked if he had a sister who was single. He didn't hear it as a jest, and our interview was over. A month earlier, I had met with the actual Governor, and he was even more brain-dead than his deputy. It was about that time that I realized how difficult it must be for the Thai people to garner decent leadership material in Thailand.

The aircraft carrier was purchased from Spain. The aircraft were purchased from UK.

I am pretty sure the bomb scanner scam was during Thaksins reign. From memory Thaksin was deposed by coup Sept 19th 2006 and Swampy opened on September 26th, so that would be about correct that it was a TS crony who pocketed the money on this one, but definetly on TS's watch.

Could not be bothered debunking the rest of the TS fanboy rant.

I just know through family that the farmers are not getting their money in time to pay for the planting of the next crop, about 2 months delay for the cheque. The winners here are the money lenders. What a complete financial disaster this rice scam is/will be for a lot of people.

Because it's taxpayer money, taxpayers should be kept abreast of the details of the rice scam, BUT THEY'RE NOT. It's looks likely Ms Yingluck will again be the proxy leader of Thailand, and we can expect a further deterioration of things in Thailand - on many levels.

One thing that won't deteriorate is Thailand ass-kissing China, because the Chinese-Thai top bananas holding the purse strings, cannot say no to China - not even to a 2.2 trillion baht speedo train which will primarily benefit Chinese commerce.
